How do you type console commands in the original Quake? I've reinstalled it
and can't remember how to do it. I need to change the screen resolution

Resolution could be done under 'options'.

However, to go to the console, you just hit the "~" key...

Hope this helps some...

When you go to Options it tells you to do at the command line. I know how
to get there. Don't remember how to type it. I've typed "game.exe -width
1280" Tells me bad command

Since your x-posting to 3dfx groups, I'll assume a voodoo card of some
kind. In Quake I, I had to add -window -width 1280 etc... to get it to
work right with a Voodoo 3. It didn't run in a window it ran full
screen, I don't know why it had to be set that way.

the executable isn't game.exe but glquake.exe or quake.exe

Strange that, wonder if it could be anything to do with 'game.exe' not
existing... ? :)

[quakedirectory]\glquake.exe -width 1280 -height 960

Like this:

c:\games\quake\glquake.exe -width 1024 -height 768 -depth 32

works for me!

1024 -height 768
