Are there any quake2 cooperative multiplayer missions?

I have a small lan in my home. My son and I would like to play quake2
and fight against stroggs together. Are there any missions or quake2
game versions which support cooperative multiplayer missions against
monsters similar to the Doom2 multiplayer option.

How about.......... the whole game? I played the entire Q2 game and am
now working on "The Reckoning" in Coop multiplayer. Have fun. You don't
need any addons. I think you DO need one of the later revision patches,
I am playing 3.17 and it supports Coop mode.

Yes start the game with
quake.exe +set coop 1 +map base1
then your other computer can join a network server to enter the game

For an easy start off a listening server in Cooperative mode, you can
use Q2Start. It's a Windows-Frontend for Quake 2 supporting up to
6 ( 16 - when registered ) mods, easy server start ( deathmatch / coop )
with all basic features...
Maybe, it sounds a bit too good for the program, but for the daily use
it's absolute ok..no more batch files for starting Quake2
