How the hell do you set max players in Quake2!!!!!!!!!

Read the TECHINFO.TXT. I believe there's a command line parameter.

There is no such file.

I said Quake 2 - doesn't work there.

While I appreciate the feedback, would the next person check if the
answer is correct :-)

My query was:

When you set up Quake 2 for deathmatch it sets the limit to 8 players,
is that the maximum for the Win95 version? If not, how the heck do
you change it to something else?
(And even if 8 is max, can't you lower it?)

Start Quake with Quake -listen 16 or Quake -dedicated 16

(listen for a listen server and dedicated for a dedicated server,
if you didn't undertand that.)

quake2 +set dedicated 1 +set maxclients 16

(or 32 or whatever).

Some other interesting vars you might want to set are hostname,
rcon_password, dmflags, and the old reliable timelimit and fraglimit.
