When my Quake 1.06 loads up at the beginning the above line appears amongst
the other command lines.
I think this may be an error somewhere and this file cannot be found in my
c:\quake directory. Is there something I can do as I would like to know why
this message is occurring. I have re-installed Quake again from my CD and
installed the upgrade patch from 1.01 to 1.06. Can anyone help me???

The AUTOEXEC.CFG file is an optional file that is used to over-write
settings in the CONFIG.CFG file. It is NOT present in your QUAKE
directory when you install the game. If you want to over-write any of
the lines in your CONFIG.CFG then make an AUTOEXEC.CFG file in NOTEPAD
(or other plain-text editor) and save it in the QUAKE directory. The
nice guys at ID put this is as a convenience......DON'T WORRY. That's
why QUAKE looks for the file at start-up and when it can't find it, it
gives you the error message.

It is merely a file you can create your-self to execute additional
commands,
such as in "Binding keys" etc. Read the techinfo.txt file in your Quake
directory for
more information.
