You do NOT need to run PAKed files for Quake. The PAK files contain all
your graphics, levels, monsters, sounds, and other gunk, in compressed
format to save your poor little HD. >>sheesh, I hope I'm right on this<<

Fistly, re-install Quake and Scourge. Check it works OK.

Secondly get WINPAK 1.2.

Load up the SCOURGE PAK0.PAK into WINPAK. **THIS WILL BE IN
THE HIPNOTIC DIRECTORY**

EXTRACT ALL.

Delete the Scourge PAK0.PAK

Rename the progs.dat in the Hipnotic dir to HIP.DAT. Copy Decker's
modified PROGS.DAT into the Hipnotic directory. Copy this progs.dat
to REAP.DAT.

Make two batch files (REAP.BAT and HIP.BAT). The reap.bat contains:

delete progs.dat
copy reap.dat progs.dat

the hip.bat contains:

delete progs.dat
copy hip.dat progs.dat

When you want to run reaper games run the REAP.BAT then start Scourge.
If you want solo games, you run HIP.BAT then start Scourge.

You see you need MORE than just the maps to play... you need the new
Hipnotic sounds and graphics and models.... that's why you should avoid
putting them in the ID1\MAPs dir.

Yeah yeah yeah, there are better ways of doing this, including repacking
the files, but hey, this is some a kind of newbie.
