My AWE 32 card does not work with DOOM 1.9 or
DOOM II 1.7. Has anyone out there got their
AWE 32 card to work with either of these
versions of DOOM. When I set the Setup
to Awe32 for Music and Sound Blaster for
Sound FX I get a Crackling sound out of the
speakers during sound affects, and the
software becomes unstable. If I select
NO Sound FX the problem goes away. And I
have no Sound FX, just music. Please reply
or email me at bm...@xroads.com Thank You.

A mate of mine had a similar problem with his SB16. The problem was that
in order to try and make his machine run faster he had upped the AT-BUS
speed and this seems to screw-up 16 Bit sound cards. Make sure the
setting for your AT-BUS is around 7-8MHz. ie( 1/4 for a 33Mhz
Mother-Board speed.)

My AWE-32 Worked fine first time with no problems so it is not a fault
with DOOM ][ v1.9

I have had my AWE working for 1.7 and 1.7a with no problem for many months.
However, lately, I have had problems. Occasionally when I start DOOMII, I get
no sound effects. To remedy this problem, I run diagnose.exe from my sb16
directory. It always tells me that "no changes were made, no need to update
system files", but once I go back and run DOOMII, I get my sound effects.

I have a simular problems with Links386 Pro.

I am using Windows `95, but am booting to DOS.

Sorry I don't have an answer... but I feel your pain.

Any problems with other games and sfx?

I had the same problem with a SB16 compat - seems it was down to a BIOS
problem on the new motherboard I got (a VESA and PCI mix) to solve it -

add

SET DMXOPTION=-op13 to the autoexec.bat

or it might be DMXOPTIONS - apparently the lower case -op13 is
important - well it worked for me - let me know how you do...

Best of luck
