World DeathMatch Tournament in Seattle, on the 30th October.
DETAILS
1. Entry will be coupon based. Next month's PC ZONE will carry a ticket
in the news pages which will have to be sent to your local HMV store
BEFORE the 14th October (Next month's PC ZONE will be out 7th October).
2. Non pre-registered entrants will be admitted on the day at the HMV
manager's descretion.
3. The games will be played on a four-player network of P100s, on level
one, Ultimate Doom (yes, ULTIMATE DOOM, or THY FLESH CONSUMED whatever
you wana call it) so get those patches now.
4. Each game will be played to a minimum of 20 frags. The winner will be
transported to that day's finals (there will be quarters, semis etc).
High scorers may also make it to the finals. The tourney will open at
10am and finish around about the 6pm mark. Get there as early as
possible. Players will be called 3 times and 3 times only for their
heats, semis, and finals. If they do not show after 3 calls, they will be
disqualified. The final will be 2 player.
5. There WILL be provisions for mouse players and/or players with
alternate key setups. But please bring a batch file with your
configuration along with you on the day. We will ensure that good mice
and the latest mouse drivers are present on the day.
6 Entrants must be 15 or over or else be accompanied by a parent or
guardian (Ultimate Doom has a 15 certificate).
7 Finalists must be available for the final on Sunday 22nd October and
for a WEEK starting October 30th (for the ultimate winner)
8 Each site will have a PC-ZONE referee present who decision will be
final in all cases (see note 1)
9 The ultimate winner of the whole tournament, if under 18, will have to
be accompanied by an adult on their trip to America. However, neither ID,
nor GTE, nor PC ZONE, nor HMV can pay for that person's flight or
accomodation.
10 Otherwise, the week-long trip to Seattle will be all expenses paid.
11 In the tourney final on the 22nd, players will be expected to show
their skills at Doom I, Doom II, Ultimate Doom, and Heretic. All
travelling expenses for the regional finalists will be paid.
12 All regional finalists will win GT's entire back catalogue (Ultimate
Doom, Doom II, Mortal Kombat, Doom Screen Saver etc) and be heavily
publicised and photographed for PC ZONE.
13 No one employed by or related to someone employed by Dennis
Publishing, ID Software, GT Interactive, or HMV can enter this contest.
Sorry.
14 In the World Final you will be up against 24 US players and 1 French
player (i.e. cannon fodder). May the force be with you. The whole event
is being hosted by Microsoft and ID and will coincide with the launch of
Hexen (aka Heretic II). Entrants will be whittled down on the day and the
two finalists will play the deathmatch on Hexen. The prizes will be BIG!
16 Where's 15?
15 Ah, here it is.
NOTES
1. REFEREEs WANTED
We currently need referee's for the following HMV stores:
GLASGOW, LEEDS and LIVERPOOL.
If you are over 18, are responsible, articulate, fair-minded and, above
all, a Doom player who doesn't want to enter, and you live near to those
cities, then you may apply for the job. You will have to be free all day
(9am-6pm) on Saturday 14th October. You will be paid handsomely for your
services. All applications for the jobs must emailed to me, Macca, at
DMA...@CIX.COMPULINK.CO.UK before 29th September 1995.
2. NO ENTRIES BY EMAIL
No entries can be made by Email or post I'm afraid. It's coupon or
nothing. Sorry.
3. QUESTIONS
Any questions about the format or times or whatever should be attached to
this thread. Do not email PCZONE, GT, or DMACCA - thankyou.
4 CROYDON
Croydon will be the heat to attend as it will be refereed by your truly
The UberFragMeister (nee Macca). I will make every provision to see that
CIXen, Gamesnet frequenters, and British Doom league players are on the
'guest-list' but I cannot promise anything. GET THE COUPONS IN!
5 THAT'S IT
Good luck
