After an absense of 10 years from the event, I was surprised to see
the same faces running the events with very few exceptions.
Many of these faces have passed from moderately aged to mid 70s.
I must wonder where the young organizers are. Are they being kept out
by the old guards chumroderie?

That is curious what with all the kiddie dues collected. You'd think
some woulda stuck and be building the hobby. Not so, go to a chess
club and see who the volunteers are who mostly plays chess on the net
and stops coming.
Always looking for the conspiracy, aren't you?
After you sued the USCF over the 1999 National Elementary, it is small
wonder that you have been kept out of the loop, ever since.
There are too many kids and too much money involved in these events,
which some times have as many as 5,000 kids, that I feel that the USCF
can no longer bid them out to independent contractors. Your real
question is why are the tournament directors getting old and
unchanged. That is a valid concern which I feel should be addressed.
Sam Sloan
You want younger tournament directors Sam? Is that your platform?
What you got against Bill Gochberg, the long time tourney organizer?
He makes a nickel a kid, after expenses. That too much for ya? I
don't see you slogging through all the hard work that goes into making
a tourney successful.
RL
Not at all. It is human nature.
It is just the staff is beginning to beginning to resemble the Chinese
government where 80 year olds argue with 70 year olds over the fate of
60 year olds. All cling to power and position (no matter how small)
with a literal death grip.

Sam, Sam, Sam,
Wrongo.
I did not sue USCF. Crazy Mike Cavallo sued me without board
authority and was removed by the board about 3 months later.
Even USCF President Bob Smith admitted that there were giant holes in
USCF's story.

What about that pro se suit in 2003?
I do not understand your question.
Bill Goichberg has nothing to do with the National Scholastic
Championships. He has never directed or been an assistant director to
one.
Sam Sloan
Sam,
This isn't true at all.
Goichberg has directed at least four different national scholastics at
one time or another.
His events had a completely different tone and tenor than the normal
national scholastics. For instance, everything was done about like a
World Open.
The scholastic community was not crazy about his way as it was a
change from what they were used to.

Try to follow the conversation.
Sam said I sued USCF over the 1999 National Elementary. I said that
was false and that it was Cavallo who filed his unauthorized suit.
This had nothing to do with 2003.
I guess if you take any statement out of context, you can create
whatever you want from it.

Is that the one where they served your pregnant wife too? Did you know
that they sell water at all CCA tournaments?
You disgust me you pervert. Are you suggesting that they sell the
water a pregnant woman breaks when she breaches and has a baby? Sell
it to you maybe, perv?
You make me sick. You call yourself a chess player? You should be
locked up.
RL
No you idiot...it is an inside joke
This refers to the fact that at the 1999 National Elementary
Championship organized by Richard Peterson (ASCACHESS), water was said
to have been sold at $2 per bottle to the kiddies, rather than
supplying the kids with free canisters and cups as were standard at
other events.
Sam Sloan
Which is the fact? It was "said" or it indeed happened?
Wasn't there a letter from a chess mom confirming that? I recall Sam
Sloan publishing one.
My understanding is that there was no water canisters but you could
drink from the water fountain or buy a bottle of spring water. As to
believing the impeccability of anything Sam publishes...
In major chess tournaments, it is standard to have canisters of water
available plus plastic drinking cups available so that the players can
have a cup of drinking water next to them while they are playing the
game.
During an important chess tournament, game players should not be
expected to line up at a drinking fountain while their clock is
running waiting for their next moves.
Selling bottled water was one of the ways that Mr. Peterson sought to
enhance his income to make the tournament more profitable for himself.
This incident is the main reason why the USCF stopped allowing private
organizers like Mr. Peterson to bid for National Scholastic
Championships.
Sam Sloan
Sam,
Typical.
This is moronic even for you. This isn't even a creative lie.
I did not sell water. I did not try to "enhance" my income. The
convention center itself sold water bottles for $2.
But there were also drinking fountains and I also purchased 4000 cups
which were placed on tables next to the drinking fountains so players
could take water to their tables.
There was a mom who was there who wrote a letter defending me from
your stupid accusations and confirming the drinking fountains and the
cups.
As to this being the main reason US Chess stopped the bidding for
nationals. This is preposterous since it didn't happen. USCF wanted
the money from the National Scholastics to help balance their budget.
Now Sam, you are running for the EB again on your record for telling
the truth?
Rp
The more things change the more they stay the same. Especially with
The Sloan and The Parr. Both are still in competition to see who can
grow the longest nose through bald-faced lies and obvious distortions
of the truth. Both used to have their strings pulled by the Weasel but
as the Weasel dodders into old age, oblivion, and another bottle of
Merlot they are desperate for muck to rake. So why not revise some
shit from ten ten years ago? Such is the life of a dung beetle.
