I am considering upgrading from my much loved Genius 4 to Genius 5.
However if I hand in my old Genius 4 disk I will be unable to use Genius 4
after its copy protection system asks for the disk in a couple of weeks.
This is unlike all previous upgrades, where the old installations have
been playable after upgrade. It may seem like a small point, but I will
be robbed of the opportunity to compare both programs and ascertain the
Genius 5 playing strength improvements.

Has anyone any suggestions (other than buy Genius 5 outright)? Will there
be a patch for Genius 4 to allow it to request the Genius 5 CD Rom?

All suggestions or fixes greatly appreciated.

Regards

Yeah, but the new Genius comes with Genius3 for DOS which some say is
the strongest of all. Genius has 12 new and improved features. Look for
my article on it soon at the ICD Web site.

In the beginning, there was
nothing. And God said, "Let
there be Light." And there
was still nothing, but you
could see it.

My literature says:

"ChessGenius 5 DOS comes with the 'classic' ChessGenius 3 program features and
user interface, but with full Genius 5 playing strength. The genuine 1994 World
Champion program ChessGenius 3 is also incuded on the Genius 5 CD-ROM."

So you get cg3,cg5 (dos) and cg5 (win), so you do lose cg4. IF cg5 is an
improvement over cg4, then it shouldn't matter much.

Fart. pfhhhh. Farts No 2. To make it as easy as possible for Lonnie. But
not simpler. I think we're all a bit crazy, n'est-ce pas?

Lonnie, yes, you're wrong in that cg4 Dos is on CD too. That was the
question of the former author. :)

----------------------------------------------
P.S.

To inform possible flamers in advance. Lonnie did answer a marvelous quest
in ..misc with incredible decency that I thought making him a pleasure to
experience (Ed would rather say *smell* (!)) those feelings/emotions once
again. I mean we're all searching for the past that will never come again
..

BTW thanks for Karpov games.

And finally NimzoLonnie45.007. I asked some years ago *what Roman did tell
you on the phone?* This because he played astonishing crap against the
prgs. I thought him as a big expert? And a tremendous blitzer. Ok. I read
Bob explaining that there was more fun than money. But does this exolain
all? I lost a lot of bet and money because of that result. I had more
humans in front of those monsters. :)

Pfhhtt ...

Lonnie, please, give a little info about cyrrus stefansson. Cyrrus had 1650
Elo in that tournament. Bob said, it was more Stefansson. But this GM has
over 2600 on his record. AND beated K two times! Could you give precisely
Elos for the last event?
