I did post a variation on this suggestion a while ago and received one reply
but I couldn't get it to work so here goes again:

I use Crafty as an opponent in endgames (eg KNNvKP from Silman's 'Essential
Chess Endings'). Unfortunately it often resigns before I get a chance to
play the endings out. What I mean by this is that just because it can see
the mate doesn't mean that I can. It would be useful to be able to toggle
Resign On/Off.

cheers

You can set a resign threshold in the crafty.rc file. Here is the info from
Crafty's documentation:

resign <n> -sets the resign threshold. When running on ICC I typically use
"resign 9," which will make Crafty resign roughly five moves after the score
drops below -9.000. For IM's I change this to 6, and for GM's I often use 3, so
that it will resign quicker and not drag a lost game out unnecessarily.

just say "resign=0" or put that into your crafty.rc file.

:)
