I know I'm a little strange so dont be surprised that the first thing I
did with Genius 5, when I got it, was to play it against two of the
oldest programs I have. On identical P150's at 15 seconds a move Genius
5 struggled to beat ZARKOV 3.04 by 1.5 to 0.5, but, the real shock came
when SOCRATES 3, with virtually no opening book, beat Genius 5 by 1.5 to
0.5. OK OK, I know its a small sample at quick time controls, but still,
Genius 5!!! I wonder if any improvemnts have been made to the playing
engine since version 3? YES, I know Genius 5 will probably win the next
25 games in a row, but, it was still surprising to me. Now, I think I'll
try the DOS version against PSION.

Here's something else that's strange. CG5 playing a main book

it. The relevant play is given below.
