I suppose, now GetClub will play as good as other Commercial programs.
[Top 10]
But instead of paying $50 - $100 on a commercial program you can play
same levels of games at GetClub Chess.
GetClub Chess you can play 500 games for free. Your games are Recorded
and you can analyze each game you play. You can view animations of the
games you play and also the time taken by you for each move.
Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html
Incase your connection breaks you can restart the game from where you
left.
With this week Improvements I am happy to say that GetClub plays
equally good like other Commercial Programs.
If you are a fan of Fritz/ Rybka/ Chessmaster you should play GetClub
Chess (for free) and see how good it plays against you.
New Ratings for each Levels.
Baby Level: (2 sec / move): 1800+
Beginner Level: (8 sec / move): 2000+
Easy Level: (30 sec / move): 2200+
Normal Level: (2 min / move): 2400+
So if you are arround 1800 - 2200+ player GetClub Chess is the best
place to play.
If you have other commercial program play GetClub against them and see
how good GetClub Chess has become.
Once you play a game. The Chess Engine analyzes each move and suggest
you where you went wrong. Incase you are not satisfied with the
analysis you can ask the GetClub Engine to analyze your game with even
Higher Level till you are fully satisfied.
You can leave the computer analyse your game for hours. And it will
keep analysing with higher & higher levels till you switch off the
computer.
So GetClub Chess is now as good as any other Commercial Chess Program.
Thanks Note.

Yeah, it easily loses against Rybka at 1s per game plus 0.1s per move,

NOTHING can escape the razor-sharp wit of Mr. Sloan.
Witness the iron-clad logic above, whereby he "deduces"
the cause of Mr. Kingston referring to another poster as
Stan. Clearly, Mr. Kingston does so because he believes
he is addressing someone whose name is Stan. One
can only gasp in awe, and wonder how Mr. Sloan's mind
might compare to that of Sherlock Holmes-- a fellow who
once defeated Dr. Moriarty in a blood-curdling game of
chess.
You make a point.
As far as I understand, "None," aka "Joe Schmoe," is Stan Booz. I
thought this was common knowledge on this group. If I am wrong about
this, let Mr. Schmoe identify himself.
I don't much give a hoot who "None" is. I'm off to San Diego
tomorrow, happily leaving you guys to stew in your own rgc juice while
I enjoy some pleasant weather in Charger Land.
Thats great. Rybka gave a good beating to baby level.

What do +0.1 means does it mean Every move get 1.1 sec? Or every move
the time was increased by 0.1 sec in case opponent takes more than 0.1
sec?
Did rybka saw 10 ply at that move?

Its because the moves were not recorded properly. I have corrected the
moves manually. Now you can analyze the above game with Higher Levels.
I think your web connection was slow or something wrong that the
moves were written twice. I found many moves were sent twice which
made the move list wrong. I have edited the move list So now you can
see the correct version of the game played and analyze your game with
higher levels.
Visit: http://www.getclub.com/playgame.php?id=DM55003&game=Chess to
have your game analyzed by higher levels. You can see score given to
each move by higher levels. And see whats the difference in scores
given by Rybka and GetClub.

I find GetClub was taking 2 sec / move. Since Baby Level is the
weakest Level at GetClub It do not gave good challenge to Rybka. How
about a game between
Rybka [5 sec/ move] vs Easy Level [32 sec/ move]
-------------------------------------------------------------------
That will be a nice game to watch as both engines will get enough time
to analyze each moves. I suggest you use fast computer/ net connection
to avoid error in recording game.

So is the Help Bots new Monkier? [Chicago] Have you left Indianopolis
I agree, this newsgroup has quite strong players. But now GetClub is
equipped with all weapons to handle the strong players.
I suppose now the Master Level can beat all players on this newsgroup.
No player in this Newsgroup can beat the Master Level at GetClub.
Master Level: [10 min / move] is a Unbeatable beast. Even the strong
players are afraid of its moves.
> Master Level: [10 min / move] is a Unbeatable beast. Even the strong

Did you change the thinking times? Master level used to be more like
10 days / move...

You get additional 0.1s per move in any case.
>> 20. Bxd5 exd5 {(exd5) +4.42/3 0}
On its analysis Getclub considered this to be its best move before
switching to its final move. Rybka considers this the 4th best move
there, losing nearly 2 pawns worth.

It sometimes has trouble accepting my move. I drag the piece over and
the game stops for several seconds without updating the screen. At the
moment this happens on every move.
Oh, move 16 was accepted immediately. Error back at move 18. 19 normal.

Game over. I was tired and stepped in at the end. Without tablebases and
searching deep, Rybka couldn't find a mate. Probably had to go through
position repetitions to finally find one, but that was too tiresome for me.

My Internet connection is fine for everything else. How slow can
transferring a single move be? At 80 cps (slowest link I ever
experienced) you should be able to send 16 moves per second or so.

That's about the time that Rybka took for the hole game.

Did it just now, with the above time controls, of course. It has
beaten your slowest level at 2s per move, remember?
So far Getclub regularly spends several minutes on a move, after being
out of book at move 3. Far more than your advertised 32s, and more than
40s the website mentions.

This is a single core Pentium 4 at 3.4 GHz with a 12Mbit DSL fast path
connection. Is that enough for your program?
mfg, simon .... l
That was in old days when Master Level used to think 1-2 hrs / move.
But now, Master Level thinks on Average 10 min / move. However for
complex positions it may think upto 1 hour. But such moves will be not
more than once in a game.
Even Baby Level: 2 sec / move is a good player, Strong enough for all
average players.
Master Level is only for the most dreaded player you can think of. Or
the Big Chess Engines.

Okay, that's on "easy" - 30-40 seconds per move, rather than on whatever
the top level is. However...
1) The chess program I used against it is good, but hardly the best in
the world (Crafty)
2) I gave Crafty a fixed 20 seconds per move - not 30-40
3) Your engine regularly used considerably more than the allotted time
4) Despite it taunting "I'm winning, boy" and the like, it lost anyhow.
5) As it lost the previous match, using the same settings, although it
won this one a _little_ more slowly.
I'd try Crafty against it on the upper levels, but for two points: first,
the UI won't let me pick the higher levels, and second, I'm not sure my
life expectancy is actually less than the expected duration of the game,
given the way Getclub treats time controls.

Was Rybka thinking 1 sec / move against the Easy Level? Or it was 1
second for complete game?

Did you forced it to think only 1 ply? How can a program sees
exchanges by seeing just 1 ply?

Then there is some other problem. Do you have latest Java Installed?
and what Browser you are working on?

Yes 32 sec / move is the average time. For complex moves It may take
more time.

Thats simmilar Computer to what I have. I face no problem with my
Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz. Its good for all works. I never find any need to
upgrade to a dual core / quad core.
I only use my computer to search websites, chatting and play Chess at
GetClub.com And my old Pentium 4 - 3.0 Ghz is fast enough for all
works. I think the problem lies somewhere else.
Like latest JVM. / Or the Firewall may be sending same messages twice.
From what I saw many moves were posted twice. And I deleted the
duplicate moves and then original move list was found. What OS you are
having?

You must win a few more games and get your Rating greater than 1100+.
Only those players whose rating is more than 1100+ are allowed to play
with Higher Levels.
After your rating becomes 1100+. You can play with.
1. Normal Level: 2 - 4 min / move
2. Master Level: 8 - 15 min / move
Your current rating is 1025, Increase your rating to 1100+ to play
with Higher Levels. As after getting a rating of 1100+ the Higher
Levels get Unlock.

I think you miss an important point:
It's still losing, despite being given _more_ time per move _and_
apparently ignoring its own time controls, against a supposedly inferior
program.
