Right now all I've got is that 2H/1m shows 4 hearts and 5 spades and 7-9
HCP. I can't remember what the associated bids/rebids are with 5-5 and
10-12 and 13+HCP.
Thanks
I don't recall seeing a good description on this convention
anywhere. Here is how my partner, Brad Moss and I handle
these bids. We made this up - it may not be optimal, but it
seems to work pretty well:
- 1C-2D/H and 1D-2H/S are reverse Flannery responses
- Cheaper bid shows 5-8 with 5+ spades and 4+ hearts
- 2nd bid shows 9-11 with exactly 5 spades and 4 hearts
- In response to either of these bids:
- 2NT is a signoff in a minor or a slam try in a major
- Responder bids as if facing a good-bad 2NT and opener clarifies
- 2NT followed by 3NT gives responder some rights when he has the
weak hand and extreme shape
- 3C is an inquiry (used to find the right game or to stop below game)
- If responder has shown the weak type, he can bid a major with
extra length, bid 3D with a minimum or bid 3NT with a maximum
- If responder has shown the strong type, he makes the most
descriptive natural bid he can
- 3D is a minimum
- 3H/S are good suits and a maximum
- 3NT is a descriptive maximum
- 3D is natural and forcing
- Cheap correction to a major is to play
- Jump to 3 of a major (or 3H after 1D-2S) is invitational
- Jump to 3NT is a very strong suggestion to play
