Does anyone know of a cheaper source ?
Dave Flower
I don't, but I know the postage and packing costs a princely one pound 10p.

The Bridge Shop in Australia also sells it (I have it), but I'd wait
if I were you. There were some changes that have to be incorporated.

You could down load "The Laws of Contract Bridge - International Code"
from the ACBL website for free.
Are the laws different in England?
Eric Leong
Harcover have an insert describing changes to Law 27.

Yes, or at least the regulating authority options are. As indeed is
the copyright.
Alternatively, you can download them as a word file from the
ecatsbridge website
No. The EBU has decided only to print hardbacks because of the
payment to the Portland club for copyright: softbacks would not appear
to be a sensible price if they had printed them. Since the EBU is the
producer/printer/distributor of Law books in England you should not be
able ot find a cheaper source in England.
Of course, Welsh Law books are free.

No - and even if they were, they Laws are downloadable from the EBU
site and Anna Gudge's site.
The only difference between the EBU law book and the ACBL Law book is
in the Appendices.
Excuse me?
The RA options are the same everywhere in the world.

I read Frances' comment as meaning that the EBU has chosen differently
than the ACBL from the available RA options, rather than meaning that
the options available were different.

Could you give an EBU URL? I can only find the 1997 laws and updates
there (looking under both Laws & Ethics > Publications and Downloads >
Laws & Ethics Publications [which are different pages!]). I can't find
a 2007 laws download.

Sorry: I just assumed it. Oh well, it will have to be Anna's site
then. Mind you, I am surprised.
But that makes no sense whatever. This is a thread about a person in
England who wants a cheap copy of the Laws: another person suggests that
downloading an ACBL copy might be an idea - but then asks whether the
Laws will be the same, obviously worried about whether this will do in
England. And the answer is that they are, including the RA options.
If the EBU has made the same RA choices (from those available) as the
ACBL, then I agree with you that Frances post make no sense - perhaps
Frances thinks/understands (possibly mistakenly) differently.

So was I (I'd looked before [and re-checked just before this previous
post], when someone else raised a question about the 2007 laws and I
wanted to d/l a copy).

But what sense does it make to someone who wants to get a Law book?
The RA choices are not shown in the Law book, just what can be chosen.
Some posters have referred to changes - does the version the EBU are
selling incorporate any relevant changes ?

Ah, I see what you mean.

I have no idea to what changes you refer, but the EBU version is
official and correct. Why would they sell an incorrect version?

Past ACBL lawbooks have included the ACBL's elections, but that's only
a page or two at the end that one could ignore. I still have seen
nothing about ACBL lawbooks being published, and time is running short.
