You don't have a natural 1N overcall available, but your double
includes 15+-18 notrump hands.
Pass or double?
Assuming you pass, LHO bids 1D, partner bids 1H, and RHO passes. You
decide that 2D is unambigously a cuebid, and after you bid it LHO
passes, partner bids 2H, and RHO passes.
Do you try one more time, or sit in 2H?
If RHO had raised to 2D at his second call, what would you do?

I don't have a problem with either pass or double of 1c. This hand
isn't strongly offensive over defensive, and your longest suit has
been bid by the opponents. So pass is probably right, but I know that
a lot of players would double, trying to get their values in early. I
would not double intending to show a strong 1nt overcall.
As for trying for game, would a hand like

be a weak2, or an opening 1bid? It wouldn't be either for me, so this
hand belongs in the universe of hands that overcaller might have. If
you're not willing to miss game opposite that hand, you raise to 3h.
Personally, I think that's a pretty narrow target, and game could
still go down, so if partner can't do anything more than rebid 2h, I'm
willing to quit, NV.

Do you really think that partner, who passed initially (I assume 2H
would have been weak) will deliver six tricks ?

We know about your opening bid style, but what about your overcall
style? Is it aggressive or sound? Given your post, I am guessing you
play something akin to the Overcall Structure, is that right?
If your overcalls are sound, I would raise to game (and would have
over pass by RHO). If your overcalls are aggressive, I would pass 2H
(although Qxxx, AJ9xxx, x, xx). If I am Rich Regan, I bid RKC (just
kidding Rich:)

I would double. AK AK is enough to take a bid even with terrible shape
and poorly positioned honors.

Partner could still have hands that make game. I think you own him one
more try.

3C. You have a better hand on that auction.
Andrew
I pass 2H either way.
