In the long run, negligible.
The same is true in duplicate matchpoints. You simply cannot win a
pair championship without some luck. The cards have to favor your
close decisions, and your opponents have to lose their minds while at
your table instead of someone else's.

Playing well in a MP event will get you above average for the session.
Having luck (Opponents overbidding and doing dumb things) will help you win.
I can't remember winning an event and not having gifts from the opponents.
Luck extends to the world championship level also. Belladonna misbid to 7C
on AQ opposite Jxxxxx. K10 was in the slot and they were champs.

True, but if the defender had played CK on the first round, then where would
the luck have gone ?
Dave Flower
No way of knowing. When asked after the final banquet what he'd have done
had Kantar played the King he said he'd still be thinking about it.
True card from stiff King (in which case he'd have to find a specific
distribution for a trump coup) or mandatory falsecard (Kantar has said
that he didn't play the King because he was hoping to find a small
club before the next round was played) from K10?
Even though he didn't find it on this hand, Kantar was certainly good
enough to produce an in tempo King.
