Scrabble II highlights: FREEBIE QUARTERS...

As a group, we averaged 30.6 Points Per Turn. Not too many stories.
Elsie had always wanted to play RUTABAGA. I was too chicken to risk
RELEARNT, an 8-tiler, and settled for a mundane RELEARN, drat it.
QUIETLY was on the board in position to be stretched to another triple-
word score with UN-, for whoever was willing to risk it. I would
have, but had a better play using my U N elsewhere.
Tile oddities: One game had 3Q, all of which were made good use of.
One game had no M - which I was looking for to get EMULATES down. The
same game also had no H, and only 2R, but 3J, 19E, and 5Y. Every game
is fresh and different!
Scrabble II is the purest Scrabble being played on earth. A few,
small, natural rule fixes keep players gunning for longer words. It
rescues the game from the same, tired, old, connect-the-dot plays of
baby Scrabble words. Scrabble II does not allow for phony words. In
our club, we use a conventional dictionary, the American Heritage.
Scrabble II is more intelligent, challenging, and sophisticated than
modern American tournament-style Scrabble in every way. Heck, over 40%
of the oddball plays on championship boards wouldn't even be allowed
in our club. See:
