I bought this game years ago and after about 15 years in the attic I
decided to give it a go again.
After reading the rulebook again I got a bit puzzled and have got some
questions:
- Can the Earth players fight each other? Or do they only fight the
Alien player?
- Heavy weapons: if an Earth player fires the Grenade launcher, he
throws 5 with 2 red dice. He decides to shoot 2 Mutants and kills
them, 3 points remain. If one of his own soldiers is standing in the
line of fire, does the Earth player have to use those 3 points on his
own soldier and kill him. Or can those 3 points remain unused and
lost?
- Heavy weapons: Rocker Launcher: Here the Earth player shoots a
square with 5. That square is hit with 5, the adjoining squares are
hit with 3. If one of the Earth player's own soldiers is standing on
one of those adjoining squares, does he get hit and killed?
The rulebook clearly states that the plasmalaser can indeed kill your
own soldiers, but this isn't mentioned with the other heavy weapons.
Thanks a lot!
The Dutch version talks about "Grenade launcher" this is the English
"Assault Cannon" and "Rocket Launcher" is "Missile Launcher"
Thx
The English rulebook says nothing on this subject. It's not in keeping
with the setting, but the setting's a pile of pretentious rubbish anyway,
and having the Marines able to fight each other to prevent each other
winning would be an interesting balance mechanism for the Marine/Alien
fight. It would also encourage the Marines to move in in widely separate
locations.

The English rulebook says that if a Marine is in line of fire of the
plasma gun they "must" be attacked, so that seems clear.
It also says that, with the Missile Launcher, "any minature ... will be
attacked", so it seems clear to me that friendly fire is unavoidable
there.
The Assault Cannon (== your Grenade Launcher) says, consistently, that
additional targets _may_ be attacked. I believe, therefore, the rule for
that weapon is that you are not obliged to attack friendly targets.

Today is First Brieday, December.
Another question:
When an Earth Marine enters a board (1 of the 4) for the very first
time, the Alien player has put "Blip signs" (I hope they are called
like this in English as well) on the new 'scanned board' after which
the Earth player continues. Does the Alien player need to put all the
blips he wants use on that board at that very moment, or can he put
more blips on that same board his next turn?
I know reinforcements are deployed at the end of the Alien players'
turn.
Regards,
Blips are only played when a Marine player first moves onto a new board,
which can only happen four times during a game.
(the English rules say, "The Alien player *must* place out *all* remaining
Blip tokens when the fourth board is scanned.")
During the Alien player's turn, they can only play reinforcements, so your
first interpretation ("all the blips he wants use on that board") is
correct.
