One person posted asking about WiF and Days of Decision II. No offense to
the manufacturer, DO NOT BUY DODII !! A friend and I tried many times
two player, and the system does not work. It is particularly screwed up by
the ability for the Allies to declare war on the Axis if they ally with the US
early enough. The military system really sucks too. Wait for DoD III...

I've also played Empires in Arms... a very neat game with some really big
problems. I'd appreciate people emailing me where I can find a faq or list
of fixes. Thanks.

There is a ton of errata for DoD2, but it is still broken. I think it
was solely intended as at least a 3 player game with no thought at all
to how it would work as a 2 player game. It has some neat ideas, but
too many troubles to be worth it right now.

I have to disagree with Ted's admonition to avoid DoDII. Ted was probably
missing the errata for it.

To anyone interested in DoDII, here are my words of advice and/or warning:

1) If you cannot grasp the FULL concept of a 3 sided game, you are going
to hate it until you do. Russia is an independent player. If Russia
helps the democracies, the the democracies will win. If Russia helps
the fascists, then the fascists will win. In order for Russia to win,
it must play with its own agenda in mind. A necessary alliance of short
duration may be required at times. But Russia has its very own victory
conditions.

2) There are quite a few ahistorical possibilities. If the ability to
deviate from history bugs you, avoid the game.

3) Sadly, I must confess, there is more errata that I like, but it is
mandatory you aquire a copy (email me for it). And of course, if
errata makes you mad, avoid it too.

I was one of the origional playtesters. I humbly apologise in advance. The
game went to market sooner than I would have liked. But, then again, I do
not own the company.

1) It is often dangerous, and in this case downright wrong, to make such
an unequivocal statement about a system. While you are correct in
observing that there are many rules holes in DoDII, you fail to note that
many, if not all, of these have been fixed with official or unofficial
errata, both widely available on the Net. Perhaps you were not aware of
the existence of these errata, but in this case ignorance is not an excuse.

2) Systems designed for multiplayer play often lose some luster when
played as a 2 player game.

There are Web pages for both WiF/DoD and EiA; I don't have the http's
handy, but keep reading this group and they'll show up.
