Before spending US$39.95 on Enno Heyken and Martin B. Fischer's THE
BACKGAMMON HANDBOOK (ISBN 1852234024, Trafalgar Square 1990), I will
appreciate some comments and recommendations on it.

I have read a couple of reviews on this book, one very positive (which
favorably compared it to Magriel's book in style and quality) and one
negative (which said the book gave outright bad advice on some topics,
and which questioned the authors' qualifications).

Advise please. Thanks.

I have this book. It has some useful advice but it is not nearly as
good as Magriel, being less comprehensive. It's a long time now since
I read it, but I vaguely remember that it was flawed in places - but
not what those flaws were, sorry. But then, what book isn't flawed? A
whole match (of 26 games) between Bill Robertie and Nick Ballard in
1987 is there to be worked through and there is a series of problems
to solve at the end. These bits are great.

Marina/mas on fibs

I think you can spend better your money by reading Magriel, Robertie and
Woolsey .
