My first post.

I played backgammon on a very casual basis before, but since the covid lockdowns I've been spending the time to learn it properly and am finding it thoroughly addictive.

Using eXtreme Gammon I've noticed that my dice are automatically thrown sometimes, the most infuriating situation being when my opponent fails to come in off the bar and I would have used the opportunity to double.

Is this a known bug?

eXtreme Gammon turns off the doubling cube once match point is going to be reached.

If you were playing a match to 3 points, the cube is at 2 and the score is 1-1, you'll find you can't double any more.

I should have explained that I'm playing unlimited games, not match play, so I should be able to double on any roll, no?

Assuming you own the cube or it's in the center. There is no bug in XG. It's something you're doing wrong.

There's a small button underneath the board that you can
click to tell XG to go ahead and roll your dice without
giving you a chance to double. Maybe you clicked it
accidentally?

It's the icon that looks like a doubling cube.

I know the no doubling icon and it wasn't activated. I have screenshots of a couple of times when the problem occurred recently, but I don't see a way of attaching them here. I've had the thought that I must be doing something wrong, but really it happens without any input from me.

And I tried contacting sup...@extremegammon.com first, but had no reply.

Maximum cube value can bet set for setting up a position but I don't know whether that can be done for an unlimited game.

I very often click it accidentally which is extremely irritating and has created many blunders for me.
I would prefer a warning saying "Are you sure you want to turn off the doubling?"
Maybe such a setting exists.
Perhaps the default setting should be that the "Are you sure?" warning applies only in contact positions.
