All, during a trip in Lebanon a few weeks ago, I was exposed to a new
version of Backgammon which they call "Mah-bussey". When you start the game
there is no checkers at all on the board. As players roll dice, checkers are
entered one after the other - each player on one side of the board. Then you
must cross all the board with your checkers and finish on your home board as
the classic backgammon. However, if during the crossing, your opponent
manages to place one of his/her checker on a solitary one of yours, then you
are stuck there until your opponent removes the checker.

Would you know an online site where these rules are played? I haven't found
any so far.

Thanks,

Lance

This sounds similar to the Greek game, Plakoto.
(See rules here: http://www.bkgm.com/variants/Plakoto.html.)

I think there are some sites that offer it.
Try searching for "plakoto".

Thanks Tom. I checked your link. This is exactly what I saw during my trip there.

Now I am going to look for an online version - not sure if it exists. :- )

Hi Lance :-)

Tom answered you already, as about playing plakoto online, I just answered a
question about it but here it is again, I think the site is greek :

http://www.tavli-mania.com/

I originate from Lebanon and my father taught me "Mahbuseh" and "Frangié" which
is the local name for Backgammon, but he always beated me at Mahbuseh, so I used
to dislike the game ;-)

It is a fact that Mahbuseh is much more skill than luck and more of a defensive
game. However I like backgammon better because the game is much more dynamic ...

Thank you very much Carla. I agree with you on the difficulty of
Mahbusse vs. Franjie. I checked the link and I am currently connecting.

As they say in Lebanon: Alf Shoukran! (Thousand thanks)
