Hex Hex Y is the long sought "Y adapted to a hex hex board". Maybe I
cheated a little by coloring the sides. :D In February, 2008 I
released a similar game called Starboard Y that turned out to be
equivalent to Y. Hopefully Hex Hex Y won't have that problem (or any
problems). This has been a tough nut to crack, so here's hoping that
it flies. (Pardon the mixed metaphor.)

-- Withering William
Fly in the sense of not being flawed, you idiot, as would reasonably
be inferred from the statements immediately preceding "here's hoping
that it flies". Obviously Hex Hex Y was intended for academic
interest, eluding you entirely. I couldn't care less if anyone
actually plays it.
I've got more than my share of playable games. Atoll has been played
13,000 times since it was introduced at Jijbent last year. Cephalopod
has been played tens of thousands of times at the various sites it's
been played on in the last two years. Altogether my games have been
played at least 100,000 times. How many times have your games been
played, you fat piece of shit?
What's with all these aggrandizing adjectives you describe yourself
with? The only thing "withering" about you is your breath, you booze
soaked buffoon. Your stupidity is astounding! Get off my coattails!!
... and then you go on to boast of how much your games are played.
This is not an impostor, guys, it's the Mark Steere we know :-D
By the way, that game of yours, "Oust", that you mentioned was gaining
a renaissance on igc? Turns out it was just the new game effect.
Because by now, it's surpassed by "Toguz Kumalak". That's right, Oust
has been ousted by the Dung Ball Game :-D
(apropos dung, shitstorm predicted in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...)
Could you possibly be any less significant? I almost forgot who you
were until I looked at your profile. Yapping little vinterdoggy from
the equally insignificant IAGO.
Oust got off to an amazing start and continues to be an outstanding
game, though apparently not as popular as the centuries old national
game of Kazakhstan at igGameCenter. Go eat a dung ball you little
idiot.
> How many times have your games been played, you fat piece of shit?

How wonderful to have such a mature, considerate,
modest and thoughtful fellow poster amongst us!
How LUCKY we are that he did not stick by his promise
last year to never post here again.
What a TERRIBLE CATASTROPHE such a withdrawal of goodwill
on his part, would have been to the rest of us!
We never had it so good....!.... ;-)

In your rants (or enlightened essays by a world-famous game designer
if you prefer - and I think you do, no matter what you say) you praise
sites like pbmserv, because that's where the "true gamers" are. Isn't
it interesting that on these "true gamer"-sites, very few people play
your games? People seem to play play Mark Steere games on sites with
lots of traffic, and few other alternatives.
Keep up the marketing of your games to site designers! You're good at
that, I grant you. So presumably you can be more charming when there's
something you want out of someone. Maybe if you can get many enough
people to try, some will actually play your games more than once!
Ha ha ha!
:D lol As though you're "mature, considerate, modest and
thoughtful". What a joke! Look back at some of your own posts you
ridiculous, hypocritical buffoon.
> How LUCKY we are that he did not stick by his promise
> last year to never post here again.
:D lol Why am I laughing at you? Because I knew you'd be goose turd
green with jealousy over my success with Hex Hex Y, especially after
your whining message about how difficult such a game would be to
design and your own failure with HEXA-Y, whatever that is. Once I got
to the "failing (and I expect common) situation" part I lost
interest. Failing isn't common for everyone, Bill.
> b
What, no self-aggrandizing adjectives this time? I'm terribly
disappointed. :D lol
> In your rants (or enlightened essays by a world-famous game designer...
Everyone who matters knows who I am. Even people who don't matter
know who I am, like in your case.
> People seem to play play Mark Steere games on sites with
> lots of traffic, and few other alternatives.
What the fuck are you talking about "few other alternatives"? People
play my games every day at sites with tons of other alternatives.
Seems like you're having a little trouble with my success.
> Maybe if you can get many enough
> people to try, some will actually play your games more than once!
"Many enough people to try?" What the fuck does that mean? "Play
[my] games more than once?" Are you delusional? Has my success
pushed you over the edge? Another one bites the dust. :D lol

> Oh, and how was Essen, btw? Oust champions from all over the world?
Essen was outstanding! Thank you for asking. As it so happens, I was
invited to an after party where Oust was played a number of times,
some of the players being more skilled than me, and I've played
hundreds of times. Satisfied, you insignificant, yapping little shit?
> If not, did it succeed in giving some perspective to the world-famous
> designer Mark Steere?
Not everyone has to be insignificant, Harald. Surprised? What are
you world famous for? Nothing!! Your only significance in life comes
from me, a world famous designer clowning on you. How pathetic is
that? Even Bullshitting Bill has some accomplishments under his
belt. What has Harald Korneliussen accomplished? Zero!! :D lol
I haven't spotted a complete list of sites hosting your games, maybe
you've put it somewhere and I've missed it - I don't examine your site
in very much detail, unlike what you imagine... but on the sites I
watch which have statistics, your games get very little play time.
Take your "immortal classic" Tanbo. Since Arty was generous enough to
add it at iggamecenter - and that was quite a while ago - it has been
played a grand total of 27 times. By comparison, "Slime Trail" has
been called 39 times in this month alone.
Despite that, the author of Slime Trail (I think you've met him, ha
ha) doesn't go around pretending it's divinely inspired, or a living
legend of a game. Can you believe it?
(Maybe it's not nice, but I can't resist the temptation of winding
this crank, guys - not after his latest wave of megalomania, "A
designer's perspective"!)
> I haven't spotted a complete list of sites hosting your games, maybe
> you've put it somewhere and I've missed it
Hey stupid! Yoo hoo!! Spot this:
http://www.marksteeregames.com/index.html#game_sites
Yeah, you "missed it" alright. My games are only on every existing
modern abstract game site on the Internet. What a two bit shit for
brains you are! Check your facts before opening that stink hole on
your face!!
> Yeah, you "missed it" alright.
Well, after you accused me of "stalking" you for posting on the same
forums as you (apparently it didn't occur to you that I might be
interested in abstract games), you can hardly blame me for not
examining your site in detail, can you?
I'm not bored enough right now to go through all the sites you have
convinced to carry your games. I just repeat: Tanbo, 27 games all
time. Slime Trail, 39 games this month alone. On igc at least, the
real-time site with most abstract games, Mark Steere games are hardly
played - all of them less than Bill Taylor's "Slime Trail", as far as
I can see.
You're good at getting your games to servers, I'll give you that. But
when players have a choice, they seem to prefer other designer's
games...
If you want to really blow a fuse, Mark, compare your own games'
popularity on IGC to that of Ralf Gering's "Kauri"!
> I'm not bored enough right now to go through all the sites you have
> convinced to carry your games.
What is this idiocy you keep repeating about me "convincing" game
sites to carry my games?? I wish I had the type of influence you seem
to think I do! Almost all of them either contacted *me* about adding
my games, or they just added them and I found out about it after the
fact. Do you really think these proprietors are dribbling idiots that
can be "convinced" to carry games they don't really like?? What a
stupid fuck you are!! 9 of the 15 sites that added one of my games
came back and added more of them later. Boy, I must be an amazing
convincer!!
> You're good at getting your games to servers, I'll give you that.
Again with the convincing! What an idiot!!
> If you want to really blow a fuse, Mark, compare your own games'
> popularity on IGC to that of Ralf Gering's "Kauri"!
Ok, if you insist!! Here's a link to igGameCenter's most played games
for the past 30 days:
http://www.iggamecenter.com/stats/topplayed30.html
As you can clearly see, Oust is number 5 on the list, and Kauri is
number 79! And Oust has only been there for 22 days!! Good point,
idiot!! Considering Oust is a *very* long game, taking around two
hours even on a small 11x11 board, I'd say it beats the crap out of
the quickie 15 minute Kauri!
If getting reamed up the ass is your idea of "winding the crank", wind
away!! What an unbelievable fool you are!! I thought Bullshitting
Bill had R.G.A. Buffoon of the Month all wrapped up. But apparently
you're running off with the title!! What a complete idiot!!!!
And that is supposed to be a good thing? It's wrong, anyway: IGC also
gives stats on average play time, and Oust has average play time of 50
minutes, vs. 30 for Kauri.
But I was thinking of the other games of yours. Now that you are
saying Oust beats the crap out of Kauri, then by the same reasoning,
Kauri must beat the crap out of Dipole, and your immortal Tanbo? Oust,
by the way, doesn't look like it will pass Kauri anytime soon in total
plays - it lost its novelty value. Of its 63 plays, only 3 were in the
last week
(http://www.iggamecenter.com/stats/topplayed7.html). Talk about a
steep fall!
But I'm sure that doesn't bother you at all - after all, you couldn't
care less whether anyone actually plays your games, right?
That's right you stupid idiot. I really don't care about my games'
popularity and I never have. Sure, if a game such as Oust gets an
amazing reception and is extremely well thought of, that's a kick.
The fact that my games have been played over 100,000 times and are
implemented on every modern abstract game site on the Internet - I'm
not complaining about that either. But that's not why I design. Get
your face out of my ass.
> Oust, by the way, doesn't look like it will pass Kauri anytime soon

> last week (http://www.iggamecenter.com/stats/topplayed7.html). Talk

Holy fuck are you stupid. Hex Oust (Oust played on a hex hex board)
was implemented a couple of days ago and is already number 12 on the
weekly list. Meanwhile, Kauri is nowhere to be seen!! Combining Hex
Oust with regular Oust puts Oust at number 8 on the weekly list out of
100 games on igGameCenter. This is your idea of a steep fall????
Will you please pull your head out of your asshole???? What a stupid,
stupid fuck you are!!!!!!!!
> Everyone who matters knows who I am.
Certainly everyone here knows who he is!
But NOT for the reason he was hoping.
Everyone knows who Pol Pot was, too...
> That's right you stupid idiot.
Truly rapier-like!
> I really don't care about my games' popularity and I never have.
BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAH!!!!
> The fact that my games have been played over 100,000 times
I can never get over this fellow's modesty!
Everyone knows they have been played more times than there are
atoms in the universe!
That guy is a model of all virtue!
> Why am I laughing at you?
The village idiot laughs, and who knows why?
> my success with Hex Hex Y,
BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAH!!!
> Once I got to the ... part I lost interest.
As have we all in these rants, except for their unintentional
comedic value. The guy is a master of irony!
> > Everyone who matters knows who I am.
> Everyone knows who Pol Pot was, too...
Bill, I've got an idea. If you find me so unbearable, why don't *you*
get the fuck out. Oh that's right: Someone has to keep reminding
everyone about NZ and Projex from ten years ago. Never mind. My bad.
As stupid as usual.
> If you find me so unbearable,
Not a bit! You're the newsgroup jester!
Wouldn't miss it for worlds....
