Portis should do well in division 2, especially if they allow him to
use his athleticism, i dont know what kind of offense you guys run
there. I hope he does well, there was no reason for him to stay at
Maryland and backup Chris Turner in his final year of eligibility..he
may as well drop down a couple levels and try to salvage something
from his college football career. A good friend of my brother played
sparingly at WR for Towson in 1AA and then transferred to D3 Catholic
U and dominated his final 2 years there, maybe Portis can do the same.

I have not heard from HC in a while.
Cal is built in D1 transfers. Portis takes over for a QB who was actually
more highly recruited out of college, Kevin McCabe. He was Virginia's QB of
the future until Al Groh's son dissed him. He actually had decent numbers at
DI--except the all-important interceptions. He signed a free agent contract
with Pittsburgh.
Our leading WR last year had caught about 45 passes at Pitt before
transferring, so Portis joins a legacy of former high school studs who
revive their career with us.
Maybe Ray Gordon Parker can get a job cleaning up their spit.
