Hi there:
This is a fair warning to the internet sports bettors out there. I
have had an account with World Sports Exchange (wsex.com) for a few
months. Back on the 23rd of May, 2003 - I requested a check in the
ammount of $400.00. The $400.00 was removed from my account, and I
never received a check. I called them enquiring where the check was -
and each time I called was told that it frequently took a long time
for the mail to arrive (the site says 10 business days - and I did not
enquire until after this time period had elapsed.) As of last week -
they agreed to issue a stop-payment on the check, and then credit my
account when they received confirmation from the bank that the check
had not been cashed. I'm currently chatting with one of their clerks
- and have basically been told to wait another week to see what
happens. At this point - I don't think there's much hope that I'll
get my money back.

Anyone else out there had any similar experiences ? $400.00 isn't
going to break me - but it sure as hell pisses me off.

No, but one time I wanted to make an immediate withdrawal of all of the
money that I had put into (and made at) WSEX into Neteller. I had
deposited the money through other means and typically books require that
you withdraw using the same methods you use to deposit.

I used the live online chat that WSEX provides and within 10 minutes all
of my money was in my Neteller account.

It was simply fantastic.

Also, I've written code that scrapes lines from WSEX's pages. I wrote
them an email asking for permission and they responded quickly, also
inquiring in a friendly way as to my purposes. This email dialogue
continued for a while and was nothing short of positive.

I used to use my credit card with WSEX and the deposits were instantaneous
and the withdrawals took about 3 days to show up on the card again.

I really think that whatever happened to you was an isolated incident and
it sounds like WSEX is trying to do whatever it can to help you out.

Online gambling is a fraud, lie, cheat and sex for money...It should be shut
down...Please take your bets to Las Vegas and Cancun...My friend from Nevada
always would be happy to place the bets for me every day since I met him...

If you never visit the sportsbooks in person then don't bet online gambling
unless you know it is true...

Hey JC, can I quote you on that?

Quick question, is it true that you and Phil Roof were raised by wolves?

Well - I'd like to think that this is an isolated incident - but one
of the things that bothers me is that I don't feel like they ARE doing
everything they can to help me out. For instance - nobody that I
talked to seemed very concerned about any of this. From my point of
view one of two things happened - either they are scamming me and
simply never sent the check, or somebody stole the check out of the
mail - and for all I know has already cashed it. It would seem to me
that if it is the second option - then WSEX would want to be on top of
it and cancel payment on the check as soon as possible to protect both
themselves and their client. It was only when I became insistent that
they agreed to cancel payment on the check. I mean - after an entire
month - don't you think the chance of me actually receiving the check
is very close to zero ?

In any case - the fact that it has now been more than six weeks since
I requested payment - and I haven't received it - means I am getting
shitty customer service - AT BEST.

Perhaps some of the fault lies with me. I have a general rule about
these things - I try to be polite to the people I speak with on the
phone and remain calm but insistent about what I want. Maybe I should
try screaming and yelling - maybe that's what is needed. Seems silly
to me - but it might be worth a shot.

I have no idea what truly happened in this situation, but I sincerely hope
it works out for you.

Well, I will report back on the resolution. They've told me once
again to wait until Monday.

Well - here it is Monday - and I contacted WSEX through their on-line
chat service today. Told the clerk my story - and the credited my
account for the $400. Moral of the story seems to be - use Netteller
or pay the $30 to have your check overnighted to you.
