This is why, on our travels over the years, back and forth across the country in our motorhomes, we would
only cross Oklahoma on Highway 40, or Alabama on Highway 20; Daytime only. Don't leave the interstate.

A friend that had lived in northern Alabama said even he would not drive at night in southern Alabama.
And he's white. "You simply cannot trust the cops."

No shit. That’s what we’ve been trying to get through your thick skull all these years.

No, it's not, and you can't show that it is. Pull your tiny finger out of your snotty

Speaking for myself, that IS what I've been trying to get through your skull. But to be fair, it may be too broad a statement. Maybe the cops you can't trust are largely confined to redneck hellholes like Oklahoma, Alabama, and Inyo County, CA.

From my personal observation, the vast majority of cops value "the code" (i.e. covering up for other cops) more than they value truth or justice. For that reason, I can't really trust any of them.

Drug interdiction cops are especially aggressive in central Oklahoma, where
I live. Canadian County is on I-40 just west of OKC. But there is also a
confluence of I-40 going east-west and I-35 going north-south and they both
intersect in Oklahoma City.

Back in the day, the cops here had a field day collecting all the drug
moving south to north along I-35, and then the money moving north to south
back down; and also both money and drugs moving both ways east-west along
I-40.

Then, when 9/11 happened, court approval of forfeitures and aggressive
traffic stops to make contacts for terrorists pretty much let cops do
whatever they wanted on the highways. You have virtually no rights in your
car. Yes, you think you do, but getting evidence suppressed nowadays in a
traffic stop case is very difficult.

That sounds like something that would be repugnant to both real conservatives and real liberals. But it must sound like paradise to enough people in Oklahoma to keep it that way.

I-40 is notorious. There are gazzillions of stories from blackjack players traveling to casinos with their bankrolls.

It’s repugnant to everyone on both sides who isn’t sharing directly in
the money. There is no politics involved, just greed.

There was a story a few years back. GWAE? A couple of APs running through Oklahoma and getting stopped with a substantial amount of cash.... had to go deep into my way back machine for this one.
https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/gambling-with-an-edge/gambling-with-edge-aps-andrew-and-brad/
Usually I'm reading about immigrants and gamblers who are more likely to deal in cash. I used to drive up to Milwaukee several times a month for a lucrative play and lots of free crap. I'd often see someone, usually a black guy, pulled over with a drug dog climbing over their stuff. I gather El Chapo used to run his shit north from Chicago.

Which shows I'm right again. Your "personal observations" continues to be wrong.

We had a small town in Southern Ohio which financed itself by giving people driving through on the interstate speeding tickets. The State eventually took over the town.

I got a $15 speeding ticket many, many years ago driving through Arizona back to California. I think they sent the summons to me in California and I sent a check back. The check was deposited into a personal account in the name of a judge.

I think it's still the case that many states won't honor traffic tickets issued in Florida because of its history of ticket abuse of travelers.

We got the same things at Indian Springs. One hick sheriff that paces "his" section of highway.
What an ass wipe.

Shit, too bad you didn't know that, you could have sent a bad check and he's have a hard time trying to explain that
with a complaint.

> I think it's still the case that many states won't honor traffic tickets issued in Florida because of its history of ticket abuse of travelers.

Pretty easy actually. We'd stop a speeder and run his license. Our Dispatch would call and find he'd got a ticket form some
hick state. We'd get a 'Hold' on him. We'd radio back through dispatch, "He's not going to pay you, you going to come
and get him?

After a pause, "Release him."

Selma TX, just north of San Antonio on I35, same deal. The Texas legislature passed a law that locals could only keep 1 dollar per MPH over on a highway and that killed all the speed trap towns.
