Go look at the message on their web site and you'll see their
statement "All unused
tournament tickets will be refunded " Really ? They're telling me
that ONPC tickets are
NOT going to be refunded. Those particular refunds had to be
requested by October 29th.
Unfortunately, that message never appeared on their web site., nor did
they bother to send
out any kind of email directing US players to request a cash-out.
This is truely evil. Had I known that the tickets would have expired,
I would have used them.
I held onto them deliberately because according to them, "tickets are
as good as cash".
Well, they're as good as cash to PokerRoom who's keeping them and not
refunding the money.
I'll bet there are hundreds, maybe thousands of US players affected
by this decision and God knows how much money we're talking here.
Take note those of you outside of the US. If this site would rip off
it's former US players, they
would do it to you also.
They should do the right thing and recognize that they made a
mistake in not informing anyone
about these particular tickets and refund the money. But, since US
players are now banned from
this site, why bother ? Just steal the money instead.

However, as of this date, HoldemPoker has not issued my refund even
though I made the request before Oct 29 as well. I emailed them a
reminder and they said that the refund would be issued real soon now.
That was also before Oct 29. I am still waiting...
Pokerroom is ok in my book. But guess which site I will probably not be
patronizing if they re-enter the U.S. market?

John, I'm curious how you knew to make the request. Nothing was
posted
on the PokerRoom web site about it and no emails were sent out. Did you
get
the info from another site ?
jo
It was posted on their parent companies site (bwin) and people
were talking about it in the chat... support seemed to have
went on vacation for most of the week though, and many regulars
refused to believe anything would happen to PR as when support
did show up they denied, denied, denied. When asked directly
about the bwin press release support hinted that there may be a
deal behind the scenes to separate from bwin and not to worry,
then they would disappear again for a few hours.
It was fairly obvious that something was amiss.

Yes, you are correct. The email they sent out explicitly stated that tournament
tickets would be refunded. I converted all of my player points into ONPC
tickets, but when I emailed them after the November 7th close-out date, their
reply stated that ONPC tickets would NOT be honored.
This is EXACTLY what their initial email stated: "Valid tournament tickets are
as good as cash and will be refunded to your account once the U.S. restrictions
are implemented on November 6th. It may take some days for all tickets to be
processed into cash, and only valid tickets (not expired) at the time of the
U.S. restriction will be refunded."
I emailed them again, quoting that email verbatim. Not surprisingly, I have not
heard back from them. I'm not holding my breath.

Just be sure not to say "What the fuck does 'all' mean?!" or they might call
the cops on ya.

This is a basic matter of principle, the money to any individual
can't be a lot, but if you say you're going to honor something, and
then don't, why would I ever trust you again ?
I converted all my player points to tourney tickets because of
their statement. Customer support has, of course, not responded.
If only a few thousand players did this, the amount of their theft
is sizable.
If they don't make good on their word, I would strongly encourage
players in other parts of the world to avoid them, ( spread the word ).
Also, I would hope players would not go back to sites that have
abandoned merican players if they slink back.....
Thank YOU

Hello!
Not much, admittedly, but some.
No we didn't. Because the site claimed that tickets would be as good as
cash,
many players, including me, cashed their points for tickets. PokerRoom
stated that
all tickets would be converted to cash after Nov 6th. Instead, they're
refusing to
honor that promise. There was no opportunity to cash in your player
points for
immediate cash. I would have done that had I been able to.
And this was not predictable as you stated. I've been with PokerRoom
since 2001
and never had a problem cashing. The one time that they cancelled a
tournament
and initially said they would not honor those tickets, they did a
turn-around and
changed their minds. I hope they do the same here. It would be the
right thing to do.
you haven't paid much attention to how pokerroom runs their business if you
think things run smoothly over there. they are, and always have been clueless.
while there was no opportunity to cash points in for cash, there was the option
to use them in the store or use them to get tourny tickets and use them. hoping
they carry through on a promise is not a good play at pokerroom.

My favourite thing about PokerRoom is that even though it has expelled
all its American players, it still uses US timezones for its games,
still spreads the games in US dollars, not euros, and still only
cashes out in US dollars.
