I have to agree with Ramishiva, the best thing to do is walk away.
Words can't kill you.

Packing heat can make you more much aggressive than you might
normally be.

The only exception I give, is that here in Colorado we have a "Make My
Day" law which allows you to shoot people who wrongfully enter your
home and threaten to put you and your loved ones at harm.

You have the right to blow them into the next century. (and it
happens more than it should)

I suggest staying armed at home, but don't go walking around town
looking for shit,

I carried at work and in inner-city New Haven for many years and it
does NOT make a responsible person, or even me, more aggressive. I got
into physical altercations when I was not carrying Loud Henry but
often just walked away when I was carrying. My retort to being called
a "mother fucker" when I was not carrying was "If you kept your mother
off the street, those things wouldn't happen to her." This led to a
couple of fights; more often the guy burst out laughing. When I was
carrying, I just walked away.

Going hand to hand with a gun on you strikes me as about the stupidest
thing on earth. Something to be avoided at all costs. I always thought
carrying would be a major PITA.

And you will not win a SB with him. I will bet if you like.

You HAD Tim Tebow, who drew everyone around the country to watch your
team, now you are back to nobody cares status.

denver has a decent defense, and a good run game and o line. if peyton
can get into mile high shape, they should win the division, and home field
in the playoffs in denver is monstrous. it'll take luck (it always does),
but they've got as good a shot as anybody.

True. I've carried, off and on, for almost 40 years. Shoulder holsters
require some sort of over coat (not good in summer). Inside your belt,
against your spine is uncomfortable; just as carrying a weapon in your
back pocket makes sitting uncomfortable. These off duty weapons have
prevented me from going different places in airports; in government
buildings; and various locations that restrict (like going aboard a
carrier at a Military Day event).

I always carry a knife and I always carry a gun. I've settled for a Kahr
P380 (small .38).

It's small. I drop it (in a small holster) in my back (off hand) pocket of
my Levies and can sit without sitting on it. Nothing in the chamber;
probably bad idea, but safer; even though hard to jack one in. If I think
I would have to hurry, I'd just not use it. First three bullets are full
metal jacket; the last three are lead hollow point. It would have to be
one hell of a situation for me to draw and jack one in. You are fully
responsible if you shoot someone (as Zimmerman's finding out). It's just
always there. I've never needed it.

It _should_ be. A responsible person should be continually aware that
his (or her) behavior has to be very reasonable. And going hand to
hand while carrying is what Zimmerman did, whatever his motivation,
that shows he's an idiot.

You have to recognize people who are angry at you or might be angry at
you and keep your distance from them. You cannot get into a fist-
fight. If someone comes at you, it is better to draw before he reaches
you and get him to stop than to get into a fight and realize that he
might take the gun away and end up with him or you shot.

My friend Otha, a retired police officer, once handed me his gun to
hold, got his ass kicked by a younger man, got his gun back from me
and walked away with no one badly hurt and no apparent hard feelings.

The good run game is going to be less so. Every time a running back
took a handoff last year, several people on the other team were
watching Tebow. The scissors option, probably not their name for it,
will not work at all with the other team knowing Manning is not going
to run the ball. So they will have to run power stuff, with pulling
linemen and double-teaming, which depends heavily on a good o line.
The offensive line is a bit short of "good," I'd call them ok. The
defense looked good at times.

And whatever legal responsibility he may have (I'll leave that one for the
towering minds of RGP) he bears a moral responsibility for his action that
day. His idiocy got someone killed. I've been at gun point twice in my
life... call it one and a half, but I wasn't going to require
confirmation that the object at my back actually went bang. I still can't
think of a situation where things would have gone better if I was packing.
'Course I would not want to take that judgement away from anyone... or
some future self.
