Hey, I am now on the instant message thingy that some of the rgp gang uses.
You're going to have to get on it, if you're not already.
I haven't found the concept all that interesting but exactly what law
do you imagine he has broken? I know that you dream of a police-state

offense but we don't live in that Popinjay wet-dream. And we never
will.

Wow, I just caught on to this whole thing today. Beldin is writing a
book, eh? As Jason P. says, holy shit.
While I don't think this would be of interest to law enforcement, it is
pretty interesting in its own right. Of course, you don't need anyone's
permission to use a real person as inspiration for a fictional
character. And if you really want to write a book, you just go ahead
and write a book, and show it to people when you are done. So why is
Beldin here telling us all about it and asking us all if it is okay that
he models characters after us? And even offering us copies?
Because he's desperate for attention, that's why! Yes, he's just dying
for recognition, for caring, for interest, for love!, from this group of
people he has never met and whom he continuously refers to as shitheads,
retards, and perverts. What a mind on that boy! A true artist. I'm
sure this "epic fantasy" will really be a treat. I wonder what the
publisher will think when they discover their author is already well
known on the internet circuit as a universally despised contributor of
unreadable prose.
And just so you know, Paul, when I finally get around to properly
satirizing this ridiculous world we find ourselves in, there is
certainly going to be some fictional asshole with a lot of your traits.
Like it or not. So you'd better get the FBI on the phone.
If you fuck up my chance to play Orehitna in the movie,
or cost me a free book, I'm going to kick you in the nuts!
How do you like THOSE apples, pretty boy :P
If I may, Paul, what message program are you using? I'd like to
recommend you choose Skype. I've just moved over to it myself, and it
is really quite superior to older programs like AIM. First of all, if
you have a webcam, you can have Jetsons-style video calls with your
friends, and I know you and Morphy would get a big kick out of that. If
you don't, you can still hold traditional text only internet chats. And
you use your microphone alone to place calls to regular old telephones
over the internet as well. It is much more featured and modern than
programs like AIM or Yahoo messenger, and also less polluted with spam.
Just a suggestion, and perhaps you are already happily Skype-ing. But
somebody has to bring you old folks up to speed.
He's using Pidgin, it's really quite superior to proprietary programs
like Skype as you can maintain all of your connections (AIM/MSN/
Yahoo/Skype/Myspace/etc) in one place.
Someone has to bring you stupid kids up to speed. =)
Mark
Interesting. Thanks for this. But he still has to be signing into
something, amirite? And better that be Skype than AIM. Video chat
isn't just for Teen Kelly, after all.
Besides, shouldn't we keep it as simple as possible for Paul? I'm
concerned that we may be giving him too much to handle at once. Keep in
mind this is a guy that can barely use a remote control.

Yes, there have been some recent examples (at least one I have heard of)
of libel standing up in court from a fictional work. However I still
think this is the exception rather than the rule. I am not familiar
with the specifics of such cases but I guess you are, and therefore you
should enlighten us.
Regardless, simply using someone you have met or read as inspiration,
and borrowing many of their personal traits, without telling anyone
about it, is something that is done by authors probably universally. To
prove that such a thing has illegally libeled you would be nearly
impossible in a case like the book Beldin has described. This isn't Law
and Order about real life corruption.
It is a rather interesting topic but of course you have stopped at the
most superficial of pronouncements which is your special way. Maybe the
grown ups will have something more interesting to say about it.
Using Pidgin, he can sign into 'everything' at once...

Then I don't care. Susan told me to go ahead and post the picture I had of
her, because she doesn't really know how to do it, and even though it is
against my better judgement, who am I to disagree. If none of you people
think that Beldin is way out of line by asking, and indeed if Susan herself
does not mind, then go ahead, what do I care.
Nope. No one has ever been able to stop an author of a work of fiction
from portraying anyone he pleases in any way she pleases. There is no
legal protection to being satirized or otherwise portrayed in
fiction.
If you don't ADMIT that the character is based on someone real, you
can't possibly be sued successfully. Of course, going around braying
about it while you write the book might leave you vulnerable. But the
book would have to be published for it to matter.
<not clicking on the ling> That is a completely different matter.
Using someone as a model for a character in a novel is not a criminal
offense and is almost impossible to prove if it comes to a lawsuit.
I didn't ask her what she looked like.
I asked her if she had a preference what the character looked like.
She's free to make up anything if she wants.
This is much more to not offend her with MY choice of appearance.
The variance is huge on the midnight madness, and most of my $10 plays are
that one.

Because I actually believe there's a difference between the real world and
someone's internet persona and if someone would like to be able to show
someone a character was based on them, I can make it obvious, and if they'd
rather it not look that way, I can disguise it.

Plus, it's fantasy. Saying someone's occupation inspired you to model a

can hardly be used as grounds for libel.

Why? It is a nice photo. She is an attractive woman, although I think she
would look better with her hair styled longer than in this photo. But it
looks good like this too, but I would be afraid that Beldin might make her
out to be a dyke because of the hair style. Not that there's anything wrong
with that but you know Beldin will surely twist things around in his twisted
mind now that he sees how short her hair is. I should not have uploaded
this photo but she told me to go ahead and do it and that she doesn't think
there is any reason to be alarmed by Beldin's seemingly freakish
personality, although I still think she should at least let the authorities
know of some of his remarks. He worries me.

I don't think anyone has ever doubted that you win. The thing is you're
vomiting $1 hand histories onto this newsgroup daily. When people ask you
why you can't play anything over $1 tourneys and haven't for the past few
years, you first blame the US govt, and then claim that you play much

numbers from the same site that you use to prove you are a winner, it
clearly shows you are a losing player at anything above the $5 level.

Not just a losing player, but a pathetic losing player.
The truth is, that I would like to play you a series of some games as soon
as me and Morphy finish. I know there will be a huge difference, though,
because me and Morphy were very close competitively, but I know I will
dominate the ever-loving fuck out of you and would be very surprised if you

I haven't played many $1 lately.

Xaq, I blame the UIGEA for why I don't have the ability to move money
between sites.
I cite bankroll management for my maximum buy in. Lots of people blow off
BM. Lots of people lose, too.
my 2010 Full tilt numbers show a 77% ROI in $10+ tournaments.
My full tracking on Stars shows an 87% roi in $10+ tournaments
You know you're full of it.
You know further that the predominant $10 tourney I play on tilt has a field
depth of 2000+ players. The variance in that is so high a long term winner
could expect to be losing after a lot more plays than I've made.
Until you make the final table once, you're likely under water.
>
> Any questions?
Yeah, did you think about this before you posted it, or was it just a cheap
shot?
Why then do you not say what your full tracking on FTP is? You say what it
is on Stars, yet you ONLY say what it is for the first 2-1/2 months of 2010
on FTP. Your nose is growing, Beldin.

So now you are citing variance, and implying that short-term results are
essentially meaningless. Yet in the previous paragraph you were crowing
about how selectively well you have done. One paragraph you cite figures as
meaningful, the next paragraph you cite them as meaningless. Your nose is
growing, Beldin.

Crowing?
Peepee, wearing that dress has confused you.
The long term numbers in general are meaningful, Peepee.
The fact is, though, that I have played far fewer $10 tourneys on tilt and,
more importantly, most of them are in one event known for deep fields.
It's similar to someone who plays mostly $1000-$5000 tourneys, but always
plays the WSOP main event.
They'll likely have a low roi on $10000 events

I'm not asking what you started playing, I'm asking you why you made this
claim, if it is meaningless. You said that right at the same time that you
listed your profit from all years at Poker Stars. Next time put a
disclaimer with it if you're bragging about a statistic that doesn't mean
shit. Either that or do not be surprised if from now on we just figure that
everything you say has no relevance statistically.
I've played it before with a larger roll, and today bankrolled by someone
else.
My tournament distribution is different there.

I'm just explaining what's going on here. You can make up as many excuses
as you want, but if anyone goes to OPR and looks it up, you are an overall
losing player above the $5 level. I don't know how you can deny this. Do
I need to post a screen shot of the OPR page?

I think she's pretty.
Look, imbecile, Popinjay mentioned forwarding stuff to the FBI, which
means he was talking about criminal prosecution, not a lawsuit. There
is no way that anyone would be prosecuted for modeling a character in
fiction on a real-life person. Being sued is not commn but it happens.
Being sued _succesfully_ is extremely rare and requires the author to
have been extremely open about what he or she is doing.
If you want to sue me for calling you an imbecile, don't call the
FBI.

What does that have to do with the FBI?
I had two pics of Susan and I didn't want to reveal neither one to Beldin,
but she told me to go ahead and that she was not worried about him like I
am. However, I put the wrong one up on my flicker page, I had them numbered
and I mixed them up. This is the one she wanted me to post for Beldin.

I still think she should keep copies of all posts by Beldin, for the

Susan, if you're reading this, I can search for

What??
You don't think that Susan is pretty?
You in a heap of trouble, Boy.
Well I don't know her. So I'm taking Paul at his word. Dangerous, I
know, but what the hell, I was born to take risks.

It seems she doesn't have an opinion on what Queen Sunas looks like.
I'll ask Will, and if he has no opinion, I'll stick with Raven haired and
decide what she looks like by Saturday

You drunk, Peepee?

Then look at Stars full tracking
Just like I said.
Take MM out of the mix, and I show a profit at the $10 level
***
I'm fairly certain it ain't her.

Do we need to take screen shots and display them to the entire newsgroup to
verify that you are a pathetic loser? Please stop suggesting otherwise,
Beldin. Just drop it and maybe people will forget about it.

So you're saying that if you take all your losing sessions out you have a
profitable record? That's kind of like JBK saying that if he takes out
all his drunk sessions he's a winning player. Hell, I once won at the
rate of $50k/hour. It was one hand of course, but if you take out all the
others in that session, it was a $50k/hour win rate.
Did you really just type that?
Again, the fact is you are a losing player at anything over $5. You have
no case here, so just admit it.

Just take out the losing sessions in the screen shots and it will show
he's a winning player.

Are you equally fairly certain I cannot talk her into reporting you to the
FBI?
Hmm, still doesn't for me.
Ugh, got it. Bleah. Thanks a lot.

Why would she send me a fake picture of herself, numbnuts? Can you answer
me that? Or are you just spouting off your typical ignorance as usual? Are
you really as clueless as you come off on this newsgroup, Pepe? How many of
us RGPers do you think have played with Susan in one of the California
cardrooms that she has worked at? Do you see anyone besides yourself, and
Beldin, suggesting that the picture is not her? Why such a suspicious mind,
Pepe? Having so little faith in people can fuck with your mind, you know.
You must have had a lot of trust broken in your life, no wonder you got into
Country Music. Seriously, Pepe, you need to trust people a little more.

Is that how she dresses for work at the pizza place?

I'm sure Susan is as hot as one of her pizzas.
And at least as smart.
Jim
Well; yes. Yes, we do

Ok, so the tourney you want to take out is a $11, right? On OPR it lists
you as having a negative ROI in the $5-$10 range, with the average buyin
at $6.60 or something like that (sorry, don't have OPR here at work).
I'll tell you what. Tonight when I get home I'll grab a screen shot of
your stats, clearly showing you are a losing player above the $5 level,
and post it. RGP can then decide.

Of course I can't. Then again, there's not a whole lot in the way of
evidence that you actually received that picture from Susan.
>Or are you just spouting off your typical ignorance as usual? Are

I'm certainly nowhere near as clueless as you portray me as coming off
in this newsgroup.

Do I get a hint?

No. As a matter of fact, I haven't even seen Beldin suggest it, as
he's been in my killfile since the days of the prop bet.
> Why such a suspicious mind,
>Pepe? Having so little faith in people can fuck with your mind, you know.
One question: Have you, Paul Popinjay, ever posted anything to RGP
that wasn't pure, honest-to-God, 100% truth?
>You must have had a lot of trust broken in your life, no wonder you got into
>Country Music.
I'm afraid that's one of those non sequitur thingies. I'm sure you're
familiar with that term, even if it's too complicated for guys like
Alim.
> Seriously, Pepe, you need to trust people a little more.
I trust you completely, Paul. I trust that before long, and possibly
even in your very next post, you'll find a reason to call me a
disparaging name.
> Of course I can't. Then again, there's not a whole lot in the way of
> evidence that you actually received that picture from Susan.
Need more evidence?
Start with this one :
Then look at this one
When you go to full tracking, don't forget to add in the $434 cash from 2006
that's dropped off OPR now, for a $10+1
When you're done, do a variance spread on a tournament with 2500+ average
players.
There's someone capable of faking anyone. Someone cloned me for a post.
However, the important question wasn't "what do you look like", it was "what
would you like the character you sort of inspired to look like".
If that's you, and that's what you want, fine.
Is this a confirmation that the picture is you? Both of them?
Seth should confirm the poster is Susan first
