About 10 or 11 days ago I requested a cash out from my Pokerspot account. I
waited over a week but did not receive any confirmation by email that the
request had been processed. I sent an email to support at Pokerspot and
received the following reply.

Hi,
Thank you for playing at Pokerspot. We have your cash out for $xxxx in our
records. We are reworking our entire cash out system, and this has delayed
all cash outs by a week or two. When we have finished the upgrade, players
will receive an email when they buy in, when they cash out, and when their
cash out has been processed. We are sorry for any inconvenience, and if
you have any other questions or comments, please let us know.
Sincerely,
The Pokerspot Support Team

I responded to this message by asking for a cheque to be sent in the amount
of my cash out. They have not yet responded to my request. I find this quite
troubling as this message has three warning flags that I have seen before,
usually when a business is having cash flow problems. 1) Non payment, 2)
excuse, that does not really make sense, for why they are not paying, 3)
promise to pay at some non-specific point in the future.
To my knowledge the fact that Pokespot is not processing cash out requests
is not posted on their website and is definitely not stated on the white
board that pops up when you log on. I think that this is very dishonest
their part.
I have dealt with 3 other poker sites (Delta, Paradise and Planet) and have
never seen an instance where a cash out request was delayed for any reason.
Surely honouring such requests is the cornerstone of any online poker site.
But let's face it not all of these sites will survive and the first sign of
trouble will be refusal to process cash out requests. I do not know if
Pokerspot is actually in trouble but I would strongly advise against
depositing any money until this situation is settled.

not every impulse should be open to instant gratification. if you want
to play cards, start a home game or go to a cardroom where you can
actually touch the felt, the cards, and the cash.

Before you buy.
I received a cashout from Pokerspot that was a couple weeks late and
they added 10%. It was the best 2 week delay I ever had. Where else can
you get interest on your money like that?

Is this one of the most honest posters ever?
Or doesn't he realize the potential effects?
If a business owed me money, I am not sure whether I'd want to tell the world
not to send the business any money. Pray tell, how are they ever going to pay
me if they get no more money in? I'd be tempted to get my money out of a bank,
BEFORE I chanced creating a run on a bank.

As a followup. Pokerspot has responded to my request for a cheque by
promising that all cash out requests will be processed by December 8th. In
their words:
Our President and Chief Financial Officer are away at a gaming convention
until Friday ( 1 December). I have received word that all cash outs will be
processed by Friday, 8 December, but I cannot provide you with any further
details at this moment.
I hope that this information is correct. Not just so that I can get my money
back but because I think the tournaments on Pokerspot are first rate and I
would like to continue to play there.
Ralph.

I hope that their message wasn't a polite way of saying that the President and
CFO took the money and went off on a gambling junket. :)

Hi Folks
This is similar to my delima as well. Only thing different is that the
eamil sent to me stated that the CFO was out of town and can,t process
payouts for 10 days. This is a serious issue for online rooms. I have
submitted payouts with different degree of success. This is the only
room who ussually replies with generic responses generated by a
computer and only 1 of 9 emails has been responded too. Nice tournament
software but save your money for other online venues...this one is of
no validity at all.

As a followup I received a message from the CFO of Pokerspot today. He
apoligized for the situation and informed me that a cheque for my cashout is
on the way. I promised to post a followup once I received it and I will.
This problem may all have been a case of the support people at Pokerspot not
properly communicating the situation. A problem which is exacerbated by the
fact that the business is internet based and any problems are going to be
promptly reported to large segments of the user base.
