Hi folks. Newbie here, so please don't flame if this is old territory
(or do flame, I can handle it). I am interested in finding texas
hold'em software that will keep track in real time of oppenents' and my
own stats -- ie, how many flops they see, etc. I currently play on
PokerRoom.

Any suggestions? Is this software easy to use or cumbersome? Any advice
appreciated.

I assume you are looking for a piece of software that will capture hand
data, analyze people's betting tendencies, categorize players you have
seen in the past by their betting tendencies, and allow you to take
notes and track your wins and losses in order to decide which games or
tourneys to join.

If so, then the two most poplar programs are PokerTracker and
PokerOffice. There are others that are available out there as well, but
they have less features and are not as well supported, but are probably
better in certain specific uses. These include PokerSpy and Poker
Indicator. From a look at each product's website, PokerTracker and
Poker Indicator are the only ones that works at PokerRoom and
PokerTracker says it only works with ring games on PokerRoom.

Both PokerTracker and PokerIndicator have their own websites (use the
name followed by a .com), If you visit the respective sites you can
find out more.

Each does pretty much the same thing, those features are outlined
above. Poker Tracker is the oldest and is a little clunky, but is the
most widely distributed and the most used. Poker Office and Poker
Indicator are newer and have a better interfaces, but doesn't have the
same userbase (although it is a close second). Perhaps its a little
like the difference between Party and PokerStars.

PokerTracker seems to support more sites and as well it supports more
games. PO only supports Hold 'em whereas Poker Tracker supports Hold
'em, Omaha and Stud. And the Poker Indicator website seems to support
just about each site out there. So the real difference, as someone
else put it, is what site you want to use it at and what games you
regularly play.

I hope this sets you in the right direction. You can get a lot more
information from the respective websites as each operates its own forum
with questions and answers. Plus each will allow you to download a
'trial version' that is limited to the number of hands you can store.

For what its worth, you can get PokerTracker, Poker Indicator (and
PokerOffice) for free through these people:

PokerTracker is available from the main page. Alternately you can
choose points and buy both of them in their store. Signing up for
PokerRoom thorugh them would get you enough points to get both pieces
of software so you can check each of them out and determine which is
right for you.

This is not my offer. I am just passing the information along. If you
find this info useful, you can use my referral code:GRIMJACK808 when
you complete the process. Either way, the choice is yours. I hope you
can find a good way to track your sit and go experience whether you use
one of these programs or not.

Good Luck!!
