This raise from him was damn near instant. Basically as much time as it
takes someone to click POT the Raise.
What's the play? Call or fold?

Fold it. He's not floating you on the turn with someone behind him.

Well I've done really stupid stuff instantly...
1) he hit a set of 4s or 5s and slow played them with 2 draws on the
board? Does he raise with 44 or 55 UTG?
2) he slow played a set of aces with 2 draws on the board?
3) He raised with a couple of big hearts and doesn't C bet representing
the ace?
4) he hit his set of 9s on the river?
5) he has a big over pair and is just stupid/crazy
I've been playing people so bad it's hard to tell what they have...
You're getting about 2 to 1 on a call and you've hit about the best
possible hand you could have hoped for. I hate to lay it down, and since
it's your money and I'm curious, I call.

Caveat. The only one you beat is "stupid/crazy." LOL

You only beat air and AK and maybe KhKx (see below).
I am going out on the limb here, and say he has pocket fives and not
just because you are asking the question.
Yes he can slow play the flop with a set. Seems to be the newest thing
to do with a heart draw on the board. You are more likely to take it
down with less risk by betting out on the turn.
The turn comes out quads, about the only hand that can call raise like this.
There is the other possibility that the original hand is AA, and he slow
plays the hand on the flop, and he is smooth calling the turn, to at
least get your river bet. And then a big bet, because sometimes people
call.
Could be AK(h), but really, enough to make the call worthwhile?
Complete air? Could be, but this hand I think is KHKx. This could be
a brilliant bluff that you are not on a set.
In the realm of got it don't got it. Hmmm... Click get up after this
hand. So that you can take a note of this hand, and pay attention to
him as you see him and sometimes you get bluffed with the best hand.
Fold, again... Sigh.

You're scaring me. I went even tighter with my ranging. About the only
hand I could see that I could beat is A9 or maybe 5x that didn't boat up.
(that's for doggy). Every other hand that takes that line has me. Hands
that would take this line, AA, 44, 55, 99, and flushes, and there's only
realistically one flush that he could have that I can beat, which is 7h6h.
I can't imagine AK not betting the flop there, calling the turn, and then
instapotting the river like that. Very strange line for AK for sure, just
doesn't make sense.
So yeah, I folded.

Another possibility is that he's also got a flush.

That was #3. Most likely holding there is something like KQ of hearts.

Yeah, AK doesn't make sense. Big lay down. Now I'll never know how the
movie ends.

Only reason I have AK on the list, is the preflop raise, and I have seen
raising AK players, make hail mary plays like this. Hope Bluffs.
always slowplay, not make the big hand, but I have AK, I can't lay this
down. Big bet.
This is the sad thing of not having notes, because often times, for
those players, this action is so often a bluff, this is an inst-call.
So it gets added to the can beat hands, when asking yourself what can I
beat, what are the hand ranges, what do I REALLY think he has.
Oops. But then again, he could also have a flush.

44 and 55 don't really fit into the pre-flop range, and you can argue
they bet the flop, anyway.
AA does fit the pre-flop range, of course, but there's a lot of
opponents out there against him, and with draws on the board, I would
lean towards him not slowplaying the flop. With lots of players,
draws, and money in the pot, people tend to play more straightforward.
After being checked to, I would expect two big hearts to bet the flop
a good % of the time, semi-bluffing, representing the Ace.
Don't know why 99 calls the turn after the flush hits, especially with
another player behind him, and you have the other nine, too, making
pocket 99 less likely.
Only thing that fits is AA, and you can argue that he plays it
differently if that's what he really has.
In this situation, whenever I see a line that seems goofy, calling has
to be a serious option. I'd probably call the raise in this hand...if
I'm beat, the guy massively outplayed me and has earned my money.
