My horoscope for this week, according to one Sunday tabloid, reads:

"This is not the time to wait patiently for that big opportunity. You
have to go out there and create luck yourself. It's important to be
totally switched on now. The stars are giving you the green light to put
plans into action and some astounding results can be yours. So be
adventurous. The bigger your expectations, the more you'll get."

I didn't read that until after I started converting one of my 6/49
systems into a 5/50.

Should I nip out and buy a Euromillions ticket with main numbers:
1,14,22,26,34?

Winning Numbers: Yes, there were some :)

And I could have spent the Greek National Debt on tickets and my chance
of a 6-match would still have been zero.

Based on yesterday's exchange rate, a Euromillions ticket bought in
Euroland would cost you £1.59p. No wonder the Euromillions Raffle fund
is overflowing - 18 tickets to be drawn on Friday.

Should I nip out and buy a Euromillions ticket with main numbers:
4,11,16,18,38?

Hi, welcome back.

Strange timing. I'd just given up posting forecasts for the Canada 6/49
draw because I thought no Canadians were around.

I've pasted the table below from
http://www.euro-millions.com/prizes.asp. No doubt the fomatting will be
all screwed up, but it's 1 in 116,531,800, with an estimated jackpot on
Friday of £51 million.

I have been looking at your posts, you seem to be getting lots of
hits(3's & 4's). Are you doing better than you did in the World Lottery
Championship ?

Here in Canada we have Lotto Max. Right now the jackpot is $50 million.
Odds are approx. 1 in 86,000,000
Costs $5 Cdn. for one play(get additional 2 computer-generated plays).

Odds for Euromillions is quite steep. My advice is to get someone else
to go in with you on the ticket(50/50). Cut the cost in half. That's
what I do with Lotto Max.

I'm running the system on four lotteries now and on all of them it's
slightly outperforming expectation. Even after the abysmal result on
Saturday the CA 6/49 version is best by a fraction of a percent.

That wouldn't interest me. Why pay for three tickets when you only get
one 'decent' ticket and two probably inferior tickets? The only
beneficiaries are the operators.

I hate having to pay for the Euromillions Raffle entry as part of the
cost of buying a Euromillions ticket since there's absolutely no
opportunity for skill.

The UK's Health Lottery also has a 5/50 format.

Their website (http://www.healthlottery.co.uk/) has the draw results in
ascending order (http://www.healthlottery.co.uk/results/draw-history),
but they also post a link to videos of the draws on YouTube
(http://www.youtube.com/user/HealthLottery). There's a youtube facility
to show in sequence all 37 videos from user HealthLottery (there are
three adverts amidst the results videos). In Google Chrome I clicked on
'play all'.

After finding 28 bugs (some of them minor formatting errors) and getting
random videos displayed after halfway rather than sequential (no, I
han't clicked on 'shuffle'), I gave up and hunted for the vids individually.

Google, never knowingly testing their crappy software.

Anyway, I now have a complete set of Health Lottery results with the
numbers in drawn order. Oddly enough, I still have no inclination to
actually play this lottery, it's just an intellectual exercise.

Nigel,

I watch your CA postings and the results are better than expectations
for a random number generation. We should have the result for 100
drawings.

Following is a summary of your predictions.

You have now on average 3,06 numbers right numbers per drawing
(without bonus number).
The mathematical expectation is only 2,45 right numbers
for a random number prediction of 20 numbers.

Good luck, Manfred

I wouldn't want to draw the attention of the religiously anti-scientific
faction which is currently ranting about someone posting Ontario 6/49
predictions.

I'll post more CA 6/49 forecasts if others join in too. Rich? Jack?

There are several, if not many, types of randomness. I haven't found
anything yet which adequately reproduces the type of randomness produced
by physical balls in a physical machine.

Western Canada 6/49 uses computer-generated numbers. I would expect that
systems devised to exploit the type of randomness produced by physical
machines wouldn't necessarily be effective against computer-generated
lotteries.

In any case, the system I use has performed only marginally better than
expectation so it certainly wouldn't be much help towards winning a
jackpot.

They claim an estimated jackpot of Ł58 million on Tuesday, but since the
unwon Friday jackpot was Ł53 million I suspect they've underestimated.

Are these 5 main numbers going to do well?

but probably more like Ł75 million.

According to Colin, you are a decrepid, lonely, attention seeking Walter

And why the heck weren't you aware of this..

What a lotto bollocks! My Gawd! Does this guy really takes the worst
gambling bet on the Planet - seriously?

Maybe he thinks that one day (with all his superior numbers knowledge) he
will win a Jackpot? Gawd forbid! If that happened, we'd never hear the end
of it!

Anyway, your latest 5-pick (5,15,34,43,44) didn't do well at all, but these
numbers in tonite's (22nd May) EuroMillions..

16-31-32-37-41.. did very well !!

Pity you hadn't picked 3, 4 or all of those numbers, Niggle: it might have
muffled the infinitely superior claptrap? Well, for a while at least! :-)

I actually played the numbers I posted, more fool me!

The trouble is that there is very little by way of 5/50 historical data
on which to base the system, so I've been using data from random.org
instead. I know the periodicity means it's probably not random at all,
but the poor results are confirmation of what I've found elsewhere, that
data from random.org is dissimilar to the sort of randomness produced by
ping-pong balls and tumble driers.
