Recently General Mills began fortifying its breakfast cereals with
CALCIUM in a campaign to make consumers feel even better about eating
their Cheerios and Wheaties, Lucky Charms, Trix, etc.

But what crosses the mind is the fact that since the majority of
cereal eaters pour MILK on their grains, which according to the dairy
industry is a perfect source of calcium, why would General Mills even
consider this a necessity? Unless of course they know good and well
that Milk is not the perfect source of calcium that the dairy industry
would like us to believe.

I urge everyone to visit www.notmilk.com and get two scoops of
consumer advocacy at its best!

Most kids I've seen eat cereal eat it without milk, straight out of the
box, like candy.
No wonder, the stuff IS candy!!!

How true that is. With the onset of Diabetes and sugar related illnesses at
record high levels, they have to take some responsibility for their actions.
Although their "Vitamin" additions tend to be commercially sourced from
chemical derivatives, it is still better than nothing.

Question is, how do we make them more responsible for their actions if we
want our kids to grow up healthy?

Am I right in believing that the extra "calcium" in these & other
products, is actually derived from ground-up animal bones? Clearly,
such a product would not be "vegetarian".

Tropicana and Minute Maid both say that the extra calcium in their
calcium-enhanced orange juices are not of animal origin.
