We will be attending a party tonight hosted by a vegan. Most of the people
there will also be vegans. I'm having a difficult time thinking of
something to take. Any Ideas?

The easiest would be to pick up some hummus at the market (read the label)
and get some flat bread and/or cut veggies. Yum!

Sarah.

For people who don't expend any energy - a fruit or veggie tray is quick,
easy, and appropriate (referring to the people who will be munching out,
not the one doing the preparation ;-)

For people who expend moderate amounts of energy (joggers, "bladers", etc)
a tray of fresh fruit and nuts would be nice, maybe with some soy milk
You can include banana slices if you dip them in lemon and roll them in
chopped nuts.

For super-crazy jocks like speedskaters, marathoners, competing cyclists,
and similar animals you might want to do something like "date calorie
bombs" - pitted dates stuffed with peanut butter.
NOTE - those things can pack hundreds of calories into a very small volume
and are only recommended for highly active people!

A suggestion for a party dish tonight? What's yer hurry?

If we pay too much attention to how others live, we will neglect ourselves.

More like half an hour!
That stuff was designed by an elite cyclist who happened to be a vegan,
and needed a very compact energy source. He wraps them individually in
aluminum foil and snags one whenever he's running out of fuel.
There is a reason why they are called calorie BOMB - properly packed, they
are 200 calories EACH!

(I warned you that they are for crazy athlete animals only!)

:-) Yes, it's one of those love-it-or-hate-it things. They built an
entire advertising campaign around that recently.

We have an Australian staying here at the moment, and I had to go out
today and get him Vegemite instead...

Kake

[Vegemite is the Australian version of Marmite. To non-fans of yeast
extract they taste the same, but We can tell ;-) ]
