Hi,
Does anyone know of any pizza places that use rennet free cheese in their veggie pizza ?

Thanks,
Swarna.

Well, I personally just skip the cheese all together. Dominoes
and Pizza Hut will fix the 'za this way no questions asked. Maybe a
few strange looks, but they'll do it. Of course, to some people, it
is seen as practically blasphemous to have cheese-less pizza. But
it's not bad, honest! Put enough veggies on there and you can't even
tell! :)

I read somewhere recently - I think it was Vegetarian Times - that Little
Ceaser's uses rennetless cheese in all but four of its markets. One of
the taboo markets was Dallas; another, alas, is my home, Atlanta; I can't
remember the other two.

as far as rennet-free cheese, why not ask your local pizza shop if
they do (perhaps if they see an interest they will carry some)
but there are plenty of places around me (NYC) where they sell soy
cheese pizza or other varieties.

Out of curiosity, I asked our local pizzeria if they had ever had
requests for pizza without cheese, and amazingly, the owner said
he is asked for this very often. Wow! So I ordered one on the spot
and it was served up with a smile and a two dollar discount because
it didn't have any cheese. This was great because we were moving
house that day and were ravenous. It's quite yummy without cheese.
For anyone living in Ottawa, the place is Fida's, on Seneca St.

bon chance et bon appetit!
sandra (and not my employer)

p.s. there's an H in the middle of my screen between the word smile
and and. I can't seem to eliminate it. Must be a warp in the
space-time continuum.

A chain that recently came to this area, California Pizza Kitchen, has
excellent cheeseless pizzas on the regular menu. Their honey-wheat crust
isnt vegan, obviously, but the other is (i asked). Ordinarily I'm not a
big pizza fan, but i find myself wishing they'd open up a branch near my
house!

I've not run into too much trouble in most places asking for it this
way, though I sometimes get a doubtful look on the waitperson's face
as if to say "I'm not sure how this is going to work out". It does
seem to me that many years ago when visiting Milan, the standard Pizza
Margherita had little or no cheese at all (though it wasn't
vegetarian).

In my area (Orange County, So. Calif.) Pacific Pasta has a wonderful
cheeseless vegetarian pesto pizza. On Beach Blvd. in Huntington Beach.

Do you mean that Pizza Hut no longer has parmesan cheese as an
ingredient in its sauce? Perhaps my data is a bit outdated, but the last
time I checked, it still did.
