-- Mike,
Yes, they exist and are a blast...especially with a group! The one I know
of in DC is the Dancing Crab on Wisconsin near Fessenden in upper NW.
There are several places in Bethesda and also in Annapolis (Buddy's).
Maryland blue crabs, in season, are great!

The Dancing Crab on Wisconsin Ave (around Tenley metro) fits this
description. And it is good.

And for this kind of fun but in a country atmosphere, drive 45 miles
SE out of D.C. on Branch Avenue (Maryland Rte 5), connecting to 301.
Exit at about 5 miles before you hit the Potomac River and head WSW
on Pope's Creek Road for about 4 miles. This winds through tobacco
farms toward the river. At the end of the road, you'll find
Robertson's and Captain Billy's, two reliable riverside restaurants
where crabs are served just as you described in the movie.
Get a window table and you can watch the sun set in the river, which
is more than 2 miles across there.

Sure they exist! But head north towards Baltimore, the crab houses tend
to be much better there than in the DC area.
