When a friend and I were in Los Angeles about two years
ago, we found a Kenny Rogers Roasters place near Hollywood
and Vine. I have a craving for the food at KRR, but they
seem to have gone out of business on the east coast.
That's too bad because the food at KRR was so much better
than the stuff at Boston Market.
In 1998 they closed their company owned stores (about 300) and left only
about 100 franchise owned stores open. At that time they also had about
65-70 stores overseas that were franchised and remained open. Don't know
where they stand now.

Why, there's one right by me. :) I know at least of three in the
Los Angeles area: Hollywood, Burbank and Reseda...

Wow! That's good to know there's at least one Kenny Rogers Roasters
within a two hour drive of Philadelphia!

Some of the individual franchised stores in the US - about 100 - stayed
open. We have none here at all..they reincarnated as Indian restaurants or
banks.

As I recall, that episode of Seinfeld was based on a true
story, not the part about the rats in the food, but where
Kramer hung a sign out the window of his apartment urging
people not to eat KR food. This case went all the way to
the United States Supreme Court where KR claimed that it
was defamed by the defendant. The USSC justices ruled that
the defendant was simply expressing his opinion and he
was well within his rights to do so.
