How many jars are you gonna process? I've got a thin aluminum pot that
holds 5 gallons; it would probably waterbath can about 5 half gallon
jars. If your pressure canner is big enough to double-stack quart jars,
it would work. Or just use a big metal bucket.
I'll let someone else chastise you for canning in half-gallon jars :-)
Best regards,
Bob

an old Lehmans catalog lists a square giant canner that holds 27 pts,
15 qts, or 10 half gallons or 48 quarts of soup. A hundred some-odd
dollars. Also a 38 1/2 quart stainless steel stockpot/canner that will
hold 18 pints, 16 qts, or 4 half gallon. about $200.

Big question is does your stove have the oomph to actually bring that
much water up to a boil.

Spamblock: My e-mail address is not a barnyard.
If you can find a pot that is tall enough to have a rack under the jars and
1-2" of water over the jars plus space to boil then have a blast.
Ingrid
You could alway process them in the oven like we do.

No. The best use I've found for those jars (and I love 'em!!) is dry
storage: Nuts, beans, pastas, rice, dried fruits.

Returned from The Black Hills of South Dakota, where the smoke in the air was visible and the smell was recognizable. On Saturday, 8/26, it rained muddy ash. Water mixed with ash. Hard to get off the cars it fell on.

George, who finally has newsgroup service again
First, I would be really careful of sending folks death threats on the
internet.
Second, everyone born dies. Or haven't you figured that out yet?
Belinda
Belinda,
Don't be an asshole.
