Re: poison on blackberries grrowing beside the road - the problem isn't with
exhaust fumes from cars, but many road departments spray such berry bushes
with herbicides that are really damaging to the health of anyone eating such
berries. Here in northern Cal, there've been a couple of private wars between
CalTrans trying to spray the sides of the roads and the home owners who
object violently. In fact, it got nasty enough in this area so CalTrans
backed off and isn't doing the spraying in our immediate area any more. If
you pick berries beside the road, try to find out first if they've been
sprayed. Better yet, get your body a little further out of the car and get
back to bushes at least 20 to 30 feet from the road before you start picking.
