It handles 12 volts?

Why not a 110/120V dehydrator and use a transformer to cut it down to 12V?

I'll be using this mainly in a remote area of Alaska that has no
electricity. it seemed a little ridicules to use a inverter to make 12v into
110v and then a transformer to knock it back down to 12v. I guess I shoulda
been more specific in my earlier post. thanks away though

If I'm reading gizz's post correctly, he's looking for a dehydrator
that will operate on 12 volts (probably DC), as well as 110/120 AC.
To operate a 120 volt AC dehydrator on 12 volts DC for any length of
time, would take an inverter of substantial capacity and, a mammoth 12
volt battery.

Ross.

No. I took the 110/12 volt to be a request for 110 or 12 volts.

Well, build one. The hard part will be to find a 12 volt heating coil
that won't drain your battery excessively. a 12 volt fan would be easy
to find..... for the heating coil, you might try an auto wrecking yard
that has some older vehicles that had 12 volt heaters.... like maybe an
old volkswagon? the simply find the right rheostat and build away....

haven't heard of any in Alaska...

so if you're saying that you are set up this way, a 12 volt to 120 volt
inverter wouldn't really be an unreasonable way to go..... in which case
the Excalibur is still the best thermostat controlled, fan forced,
multiple tray dehydrator you could use.
