Several years ago I managed to score an older All American Model 925
for a very low price. It was the type with the toggle valve and no
means for a pressure regulator weight.
I also have a Mirro pressure canner that uses the same pressure
regulator weight as the newer All American canners so I did some
retrofit checking on my 925.
I removed the vent pipe from the Mirro as well as the toggle valve
from the All American. The vent pipe from the Mirro had the same
thread as the toggle valve from the All American.
I ordered a new vent pipe (All American part number 69) and another
pressure regulator weight (All American part number 68).
The old toggle valve is now in a drawer somewhere in the workshop,
never to be found again.
My updated 925 with vent pipe and pressure regulator weight works like
a charm.
Just one caveat if you make this retrofit, there is no over pressure
safety plug on your 921 as the old toggle valve also acted as a safety
relief valve. With the vent pipe replacing the toggle valve, in the
event it becomes clogged, there is no over pressure safety relief
system. You will just have to keep a closer watch on the pressure
gauge.
Just did a quick search and both parts are available here:
