sandra <she...@telus.net> took a deep breath, sighed and spoke thusly:

You sure can use the frozen fruit to make jam. I still have frozen peaches in my freezer
from at least 3 years ago. When I froze them, I had it in mind to make jam eventually,
but I just didn't have the time right then to do it (I think I had 40 pounds of peaches on
the verge of going bad). So I peeled them and kind of chopped them up in the food
processor, added some Fruit Fresh and then measured out the amount I use in a jam recipe
(since I use pectin, I just used the amount in the directions for the pectin brand I buy),
poured it into freezer bags and stuck them in my chest freezer. Every now and then, I
pull a bag out and make a batch of jam and it tastes like the fruit is fresh.

The Mennonite people in our area use frozen fruit from Michigan to make
their jams. they get it in big tins. We have a wonderful store they run
here where we can get things very inexpensive.

Sure can. Last year Albertson's had a sale on frozen blackberries and
they were much cheaper than fresh. I got a few bags and put up about 10
half-pints blackberry jam w/framboise (raspberry liqueur).

me too. Barb, do you save up the juice and make jelly? Thinking of doing
that this year with the strawberries (got about 4 cups of juice saved up so
far)

I had First Place Strawberry Jelly a couple years ago from frozen
berries. Easier than cooking/heating it and pouring through a
cheesecloth. :-) (I think my recipe uses 3-1/2 cups of juice)
