Kind people,

I'm looking for a good sausage stuffer. What I have in mind is some
sort of over-grown hypodermic, or something like it.

Am I on the right track? Does anyone make such a thing?

Thanks in advance for any tips, pointers, etc.

Regards,
David.

I've seen pastry bags used to stuff casings in that manner. I would
think that it would take a long time to stuff 3-5 lbs of meat using a
hypodermic-style or pastry bag. I use a 5-lb sausage stuffer from The
Sausage Maker (in Buffalo, NY). You can go to URL
http://www.wholeherb.com/CARDS_FALL/SAUSAGE.HTM to sign up for one
of their catalogs. Allied Kenco Sales (http://www.alliedkenco.com/)
also has stuffers -- although I haven't tried theirs. Both of these
places sell a 3-lb stuffer that may be what you are looking for
(although not exactly).

Looking further at the Allied Kenco web pages, I noticed that they
sell a beef jerky gun that has an optional sausage stuffer kit.
Maybe this is what you are looking for...

Check out http://www.facem.com/welcome.html which gives details of
quite a few sausage stuffers. They aso list dealers worldwide.
I bought their smallest "Minnie" stuffer about a year ago, and I'm
delighted with it. The only minor problem with the Minnie is that
there is no quick release for re-filling, you need to re-wind the
plunger by hand. It has a superb air release valve on the plunger
which lets out any trapped air and prevents "spurting" problems.
I reckon this machine will out-last me....

[Jitterbug] How does their sausage stuffing machine compare in quality and
price with the ones from "The Sausage Maker" here in Buffalo NY.? The
pictures and description are great.. Thanks..

I don't know "The Sausage Maker" or their products. The Minnie Stuffer
isn't cheap, I paid almost 200 Dollars for it. I couldn't find anything
else in the UK at the time, maybe I should have looked outside the UK.
Quality of manufacture of the Minnie is very good. It is really a
scaled down professional machine, and is no doubt used by small
professional outfits or where small runs are required.

equipment are very nice... and their advice is taken VERY seriously...

The Sausage Maker doesn't have an on-line catalog (AFAIK) at this
point. The only web site is a place where you can go to order a free
copy of their catalog. The URL is

Call Sausage Maker at (716)-824-6510. Very helpful and friendly folks
(except the time I got an "order taker" while the regulars were at lunch).
They have a web page which is just an ad and a form for requesting a
catalog.

They have a 5lb. stuffer on sale for $175. I've been using this model for a
few months and have been extremely pleased. Much better than using a stuffer
attachment on a grinder.

I also have their 5-lb stuffer: it's easy to use and it cleans up
fairly easily. It's a big improvement over the 5-lb stuffer I bought
from them 5 years ago: a heavy single-piece stuffer that was difficult
to clean.
