I bought some quart size ball jars and want to know if its ok to freeze things
in them. When I went back to the store I saw that the pint size jars come in
regular and freezer jars and wanted to know the difference because they only
had the normal kind in the quart size.

IF the jar is tapered smaller at the bottom and lager at the top it is PROBABLY a
jar that can be placed in the freezer...

I don't recall ever seeing any quart freezer jars in my 5 years of doing this
though, I'd say they are not...

You can use Ball jars for freezing. Just remember to mark them so you
don't try to use them for regular canning. Something about freezing
them causes them to be more susceptible to breakage. You don't need to
seal them just make sure you leave a large enough head space to allow
for expansion.

Good luck with it

I freeze in all canning jars. the shape of the "freezer" jars makes it
easier to slide the frozen food out without waiting for it all to thaw.

Of course it is OK to freeze food in Ball jars - there is a section in
Ball's Blue Book on that very subject.

I freeze in jars all the time. Even glass. The trick is to leave at least
an inch headroom for the product to expand. I also advise using straight
sided widemouth jars.
