Hi there,

We cannot find anyone who has a recipe for drying cranberries. Can you
help?

Thanks.

You need to craze them in boiling water, very briefly ( seconds).
that allows the skin to break slightly. Just put them in your
dehydrator after that and procide as usual. A friend and I tried for
8 days before we learned that you had to do that. Good luckJeff

Jeff,

I tried drying some and it turned into a mess. Here is what I did so that
you will know what not to do. I made a simple syrup of sugar, corn syrup
and water. I then placed the cranberries in the syrup and cooked briefly(
perhaps not briefly enough). I then let the berries set in the syrup unlit
they cooled, to absorb some of the liquid. Then I dried them. The problem
is the berries lost all of their shape and when the were dried the were
flat and not good to eat. I think all of the good stuff was left in the
pot. I had a lady post another method of making sweetened cranberries but
it involved pricking a hole in each berry with a toothpick and then soaking
overnight before drying. I hope my failure will help in some way. I buy
dried cranberries from a local health food store.

Joe
