I looked at 2 models of Zojirushi rice cookers with "fuzzy logic":
NS-JCC10 and NS-JCC18. One makes a maximum of 10 cups of cooked rice
and the other makes 20 cups.

I read a rieview of the 20 cup unit, and the reviewer said the minimum
amount of rice recommended for cooking was about 1.5 dry cups of rice.
Is this correct,. and does anyone know the minimum for the 10 cup
machine?

I was also note they will cook porridge. Does anyone have any
experience cooking oatmeal in them and know what is the minimum amount
they will cook?

I've had my Fuzzy Logic for about a month now. Wonderful toy.
Purchased the 18 and have had no problem with using just a cup and a
half of dry rice. Note that the cup (from Japan) supplied with the
machine is not a true US cup size. It's smaller. I only cook for two
people and really would've purchased the smaller unit but for some
reason I could find the larger at a lower cost. Sam's or Costco sells
the JCC18 for $139.00 which was even less expensive than the best
price I could find for the 5 cup version. Have not tried porridge as
yet. Mostly brown, sushi and white rice.

I've cooked 1 dry cup of rice in the JCC18 and it comes out fine.
There is a bit more splatter on the inside of the lid when cooking
with smaller amounts, so cleanup is harder.

The reason I got the bigger unit was to make more porridge, but I
generally use 1.75 dry cups with broth to Porridge Measuring Line 2.
After the cooking is done on the Porridge setting, I stir up the
porridge and let it sit for about 10 minutes while preparing some
add-in ingredients on the side. It usually thickens up a lot while
sitting and you may need to add boiling water to get the consistency
down to where you want it.

The only oatmeal I cook is the microwavable kind. If I'm going to use
the Zoji in the morning, it will be to make some rice for a
Hawaiian-style breakfast, or for making porridge for breakfast.

There are only two of us, so the 3 cup nuero fuzzy cooker was the
perfect choice. A little pricey - about $90.00 but well worth the
price. The load the rice in morning and it will be ready when you get
home and are ready for dinner feature is just great.
