Does this site ever get regulated any more?

slack because of work pressures. The one thing I have noticed is the
massive amount of posts that don't relate to anything. Great site for
buying a watch on, but I wondered if it is ever going to get regulated
as it must put off potential new posters.

It's not a "site", it's a newsgroup. This is not a moderated
newsgroup.
Abandon googlegroups, subscribe to a real news provider which actually
cares about the service they provide, and get a real news reading
client with filtering capabilities; you'll be much happier.
Ironically, almost every single watch-related piece of spam you're
complaining about comes from your googlegroups companions, and google
shows absolutely no interest in doing anything about it.

can you offer a couple sugestions along these lines? Are any of these free?

While not exactly free, news.individual.net is nearly free, and is
very well regarded for providing a nearly clean newsreading
experience.
Readfreenews.com has several connection options, some text only, some
with binaries and different lengths of article retention.
Octanews is a full-service (binaries included) provider, but I don't
know what their pricing structure is.
There's a number of other commercial, full-service providers out
there; a google search should turn them up for you.
The newsgroup "alt.free.newsservers" is where folks talk about open
access servers.

The newsreader (Thunderbird) included in the Firefox browser is s good choice.
If you're a techie type, Gravity or xnews are good choices. I've used Agent (or
FreeAgent) for many years.
And the server at news.motzarella.org is free, if your ISP doesn't offer a news
server (most ISPs do).

I use the Thunderbird newsreader and find it's just fine for my needs.
It has decent filtering properties.
For a news server, I've been with Astraweb. www.news.astraweb.com for 3
years. I bought their $10 25GB service and haven't even made a dent in
it. I don't do any binary groups so that $10 will be a lifetime supply
for me. I find their support to be quite good, too.

am looking to expand my company's online presence through groups and
blogs. I like the concept of this group just not all the extra posts.
I am going to join, post messages and comments and hope that someone
gets something out of what I have to say. Maybe my message will not
get lost.

Newsgroups are not for "companies" -- "expanding a company's online
prescence" usually means exactly the inappropriate watch sales offers you
are complaining about --it's called SPAM.

You don't need to "join" anything, just post, and your posts will stand out
as long as they are about the theme of the newsgroup -- nobody reads the
SPAM except dumbass newbies and Google groupies. Get a good newsreader.
