Art, Honey, Computers, Tea, Food, Music, and Film. I will check out
the podcast later today.
I was actually snagged by the last bit of your post and I instantly
drew a connection with the concept of "Mindfulness" as in the Buddhist/
Thich Nhat Hahn way. Tea is something that is both easy and very
complex to be mindful about from start to finish and I think that is
the actual allure in a world where almost everything else is
impossible to be mindful of no matter your desire to. For instance
during my commute this morning I was thinking just how impossible it
is to be a "mindful" driver. Things pass by far too fast and it
requires so much concentration and also so much distraction that I
personally believe The Buddha himself could not achieve it. This then
got me to think about how much this spills over into other areas of
modern life like film. At ~30 frames per second and with so much
happening at once it is hard to mindfully watch most movies, you are
always missing subtlety or not able to appreciate it all in many ways.
Most everything today has this harried pace and "multitasking" which
destroys the ability for mindfulness and peace and some sense of
tranquility. Tea breaks this mold. I think it is why, at the root of
it, most of us are here and do what we do... and for that matter
become "snobs" in any area. It is an area that we can enter that
mindful state to some degree.
Just my humble opinion, but something I had been working on in my mind
this morning and then of all things this post touched on it and broke
it free of the solitary confines of my head.

I have to admit I'm also a snob for weed.... but I think that's not
the best thing to talk about over e-mail. Your paragraph grasps
exactly the point of the podcast - that tea inserts a mindfulness into
modern life that isn't there because one CAN be mindful about it.
That it's a good ritual to add mindfulness to as it has been done so
with tea for generations. Anyway - hope you enjoy the videos!
