This group is not for advertisements, and you obviously know that,
since you posted this to the appropriate group.
Tsk, tsk.
OB On Topic: I have a square brass tea caddy, not very large, that is
faintly Asian in appearance. It was my grandma's, and I love it just
because the design is so pleasing to the eye. The brass is very
thin. I used to keep odd pennies in it, but the bottom came loose
because of the weight, so now it just sits around, empty.

HUH?
I'll double that (or more)....?????
Ah, well, it takes all kinds.
Dear Stolarskin: Ads of any kind are not welcome here. At all.
Posting ads here is the exact opposite of "good etiquette." Read the
FAQs.

Obviously you can't read english.
What is it about the post that you don't understand.
Well, for starters, the statements below are nonsensical. And
inaccurate.
"... Also, it seems to me, that posting FA is also good etiquette.
Nonsense. Read the FAQ.
> And, how many people post for sale when it is an auction.
> Answer, alot !"
This statement makes no sense at all, even if it were to pertain to
the previous posts. Which it doesn't.

Cross-posting teaches us that other newsgroups can be as cranky as
ours. (Note: this isn't being posted to those other groups!)

Sorry, I've read your post a few times, and your crankiness is just
too subtle for me.
I just wanted to pop in to say that I think everyone needs to up their
crankiness quite a bit to match others. I mean if we are going to be
competitive in this Usenet game we need to out-cranky even the
crankiest parent's basement dwellers!
...or not. :) It is funny though when it's put in perspective, the
worst of RFDT would amount to a flickering candle flame compared to
many where full Kevlar suits are barely adequate.

...which raises the question of which newsgroups we might study with
an eye to raising the level of rancor here. I'm sure that, given the
varying backgrounds of our contributors, we can find some rip-roaring
models. To start the ball rolling, I nominate comp.lang.prolog.
Lord, you've got to be a mathematician. How about
alt.depression,flame? Toci

No, just a humble programmer. But once I wanted to be a mathematician...
Welp, I'd have to go with comp.os.linux.advocacy (or just about any
Linux-related NG) I'm a fan of open source but they loves them some
fights, internally (vi vs. Emacs, KDE vs. Gnome, Linus vs. Stallman,
distro wars, etc.) but then they also hate Microsoft and Apple. About
the only thing Linux folks agree on is that they like Linux.
Other than that probably the basics: politics, religion, and tea.

Don't forget about abortion, the death penalty, and illegal
immigration!

...why you son of a b*t(%!!!1! How dare you! ...I mean yeah those too,
but I think an angered tea connoisseur is much worse! I always love
how the simplest topics can be the worst too. Like pinball. I love
pinball and finally bought my first real pinball machine for my home a
while back, you can't imagine the drama in that newsgroup! The
"crankiness" of those S.O.B.s It ranks right up there with any of the
above.
I've touched on this before but my opinion on the matter is it comes
down to obsession. Many of these people have built little virtual
obsessions and then they have a support group of other obsessive folks
and it just snowballs from there. It could be
alt.belly.button.lint.collectors and you'd find people willing to
knife fight to the death over the choicest belly button lint. I didn't
check, but I'd bet there are newsgroups devoted to belly button lint,
not to mention a fetish as well.
Chris Rock (the comedian) had a great bit about the Internet and one
day sitting home alone thinking about screwing a door knob only to go
online and find there is already a president of the door knob screwers
association. The Internet isn't always the best medium to enjoy a
hobby/interest. I wish there were more interest and people in my area,
I'm sure it would be a blast to actually enjoy their company and talk
tea... but alas nothing such exists and short of driving to NYC every
weekend I'd never have the opportunity to talk and learn as much as I
do here. The key is always keeping it sane and not becoming obsessive,
a hoarder, an unstoppable buyer, or even so engrossed in water temp/
mineral content/exact micrograms/and other minutiae that it overwhelms
the real love and enjoyment of such a simple pleasure as tea.

Sorry, I meant THIS post, you ignorant bastard.

Oh, piss off! we all knew exactly what post you meant, and nobody
cares! Same goes for Lew and his damn trite play on words of a play on
words by the late great Mr. Adams, "babelcarp" no one uses that
garbage when we could just use the real babelfish instead. Obviously
the level of intellect and ability to reason is completely out in this
group! Morans!
/I just used babelcarp yesterday FYI, it really is cool.

You can handle my gaiwan, but... be gentle.
Are you really that obtuse ?
And furthermore, in looking through the posts on here, do
you have anything at all intelligent to contribute to this ng?

Apparently alt.antiques should rank up there as well. Who knew?
stolarskin;
you keep talking about 'this' newsgroup, yet you are cross-posting to
several at the same time. none of your generalities about misleading ads
pertain to rec.antiques, so i would appreciate it if you removed our
group from your posts. if you had bothered to return to rec.antiques to
read the responses to your rudeness [which were not cross-posted], you
would have learned that the charter of rec.antiques forbids any type of
commercial, for sale, wanted to buy, or especially for auction ads.
therefore, posting any of these ads is not only poor netiquette but is
considered spamming of the worst kind which, for repeat offenders, may
be reported to the miscreant's isp [or to ebay which has little
tolerance for spammers]. therefore, your comments about for sale or for
auction ads have nothing to do with etiquette in our group and no amount
of insults to our trusted family members will make it so.

Which newsgroup? And why is this trash even being posted to
rec.food.drink.tea? This group is intended for discussing teas and
drinking tea, and it's not a good place to sell your Modern Dutch
gewgaws.

"C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis."
WHICH newsgroup are you talking about?
You are posting to:
alt.antiques,rec.antiques.marketplace,rec.antiques,rec.food.drink.tea
rec.antiques is NOT a commercial newsgroup.
You're either trolling or disrupting. Make your choice.
